Head of Enterprise Transformation

Guardian has set out an ambitious growth strategy over the next 5 years, referred to as our Journey To ’30.  This strategy focuses on continuing the growth of both our Group and Individual Markets business lines to diversify our product portfolio, increase our distribution footprint, grow our customer base, and leverage technology, data and AI as a strategic enabler. This growth strategy requires ongoing transformation across the enterprise, including both the business lines and corporate functions.

The Head of Enterprise Transformation will play a meaningful enterprise role in transforming how Guardian operates by ensuring our strategic initiative portfolio is aligned to our near-term and longer-term strategy, driving ideation and process excellence across the firm with the express purpose of delighting our customers (both internal and external).  This role will collaborate closely with leaders in business areas, technology, data and AI, and finance to drive transformation, and will regularly update the executive leadership team on the progress of delivery efforts as well as the results of past initiatives to ensure the company is realizing value from transformation efforts.   Group and Individual Markets business lines have dedicated transformation leads, whom this role will work collaboratively with to build an enterprise framework and roadmap.  This team will also play the primary transformation lead role for Corporate Functions, both developing the change roadmap and overseeing execution of those initiatives.

In this role you will be accountable for:

Enterprise Transformation Office & Portfolio Management: Consolidate and develop the enterprise transformation roadmap across Group, Individual Markets and Corporate Functions aligned to our Journey To ’30 strategy, provide the framework and mechanism for ongoing prioritization, and oversee the portfolio of change initiatives across the enterprise.Create Prioritization Framework: In partnership with Finance, create a strategic prioritization framework to assess and prioritize change initiatives and how Guardian allocates capital to these initiatives (including both the annual process and quarterly funding requests)Develop Transformation Roadmap:  Create the enterprise view and roadmap of transformation initiatives for Guardian, connecting the dots on and incorporating the initiatives prioritized in Group and Individual Markets.  Own the development and execution of the transformation initiatives for Guardian’s Corporate Functions.Oversee Portfolio Execution: Provide a pragmatic structure for demand intake, prioritization, planning, and tracking of key initiatives (inclusive of BAU and transformation) across the enterprise aligned to our strategic roadmap; Lean in to ensure execution of initiatives for the Corporate Functions, and provide light-touch connectivity for oversight of Group and Individual Markets initiatives in the portfolio.Process Excellence & Optimization: Develop a global COE for process excellence (inclusive of Enterprise Transformation team, India team and Business Unit teams), driving common standards, approach, and prioritization of projects. Mature capabilities and facilitate workshops with senior leaders to reimagine process for key transformation initiatives.Business Architecture: Mature and advance Guardian’s Business Architecture discipline to align with Guardians evolving operating model.  Partner with key stakeholders across the Business, as well as Enterprise, Technology and Data Architecture to identify dependencies, interrelationships and optimize outcomes to achieve our strategic objectives.  This role is accountable for setting the standards for what a “good” process layer looks like in the overall architecture framework, prioritizing the transition of processes across the enterprise into a newly established tool (Signavio), and overseeing the ongoing maintenance of the process database in the tool.You are

The Head of Enterprise Transformation will be a strategic executive that has proven success in driving accelerated growth and integrated strategy into execution within a large organization. They will be a proven senior leader with an impressive track record of transforming critical processes that unlock value, drive improved customer experiences and empower Guardian employees to achieve at the highest levels. In this role, they will report to our Chief Strategy & Operating Officer, who is a member of the Guardian Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate is someone who will thrive in a collaborative work environment. Although decisiveness is an important characteristic, of equal importance is the ability to incorporate various views in formulating initiatives.  This candidate will be an effective listener and will have well-developed stakeholder management and executive communication skills. They will be adaptable, flexible, and detail-oriented, as well as execution oriented. Characteristics include:

10 years+ of experience in process improvement, execution and change-related rolesMBA or professional degree preferredFinancial services or insurance experience preferredSix Sigma certification preferred, with demonstrated success in operational/process improvement domains delivering outcomes

Location

The primary location for this position is onsite 3+ days per week in our Hudson Yards, NYC office.

Travel

<20% Travel required for this position, based primarily on project-specific needs.

Salary Range

$350,000 - $400,000

The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
