About the Role
In this position you will be closely working with global and local stakeholders and leading the sales team to achieve revenue targets and expand market share across the Greater China region (Mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan). This role involves developing and implementing effective sales strategies, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the successful promotion of Elsevier health electronic products in Greater China markets. At the end you will lead building trust and loyalty to Elsevier health among GC customers and strengthen Elsevier’s leadership position in the high dynamic health market.
Responsibilities
Sales and channel strategy development
Align with global and regional strategies, develop and execute Greater China sales and channel strategies to meet and exceed new sales and renewal revenue and margin targets, with strategic focuses for key accounts and key product portfolios
Thoroughly understand the hospital and medical market, identify key decision-makers, and position Elsevier solutions effectively within customers’ workflows
Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for business growth
Sales team management and leadership
Lead, coach, and support the sales team to drive sales efficiencies and enhance overall sales effectiveness
Allocate accounts, set clear sales objectives and performance metrics for the team
Establish an efficient sales cadence and maintain discipline in managing the sales pipeline to ensure consistent performance
Monitor sales performance against targets and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure sales goals are met
Generate and deliver regular reports for GC and APAC senior management
Develop and maintain master customer databases
Build a high-performing sales team, focusing on individual development and professional growth
Customer Relations Management
Build and maintain relationships with key healthcare providers, hospitals, and other relevant stakeholders.
Effectively manage customer interactions, track sales, and analyze customer data via CRM system other tools
Lead sales team and work closely with customer success team to maintain regular engagement with customers
Prioritize quick and effective responses to customer inquiries and concerns to demonstrate commitment and reliability
Engage with C-Suite/executives and proven end users (doctors, professors etc.) and provide solutions or services tailored to customers’ specific needs to drive sustainable partnerships and foster business growth
Inter-department Relationships
Collaborate with teams including customer success, marketing, product, pricing, tech, and customer service etc. to ensure the alignment of sales strategies with overall business objectives
Work with all levels of the Elsevier local, regional and global organization to plan, strategize and implement new and renewal revenue goals
Work with Business Controller and Finance Dept in providing the necessary updates and strategies on pricing and discounts optimization
Provide feedback from customers and the sales team to improve product offers and services
Work across the organization to provide leads to other sales channels (Academic, Pharma and Print) on the market needs and potentials
Market & Competitors
Monitor industry trends and regulatory changes that may affect sales strategies
Define the market drivers based on analysis and trends, and monitor entrance of new competitors
Understand implications of market changes on Elsevier health business, define and adapt sales strategies to remain competitive
Identify new business opportunities and areas for expansion.
Budget Management:
Manage the sales budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to achieve sales goals
Analyze sales expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities
Proposal, P&L, contract checking & approval
Requirements
At least 3 years’ track record in developing high performing teams and achieving sales targets
Minimum 8 years of experience of sales and key Account Management with experience in online, e-products or subscription-based business model
Proficiency in CRM software and MS Office Suite
Strong presentation skills required
Proficient in professional/business level English, additional languages are beneficial
Rich Knowledge of managing and operating mainland/Hongkong/Taiwan region’s online database/solution sales activities
Knowledge of the hospital decision making process/sales in a hospital setting
Knowledge of the medical/pharmaceutical industry is very advantageous
Knowledge of health IT systems is an advantage
Knowledge of marketing and sales, and command of sales cycle
Formal sales training is an advantage (e.g. Miller Heiman)
