We have an outstanding career opportunity for a Head of Fabrication to join a leading Company located in the Huntersville, NC surrounding area.
The Head of Fabrication, as the leader of all fabrication operations in North America, ensures compliance with safety, that our products are fabricated on time, in the quantity and quality required at the lowest possible cost. As one of the key managers for North Americas, they spread a positive and growth-oriented culture in the organization. They live and promote the company's Way to Win daily and understand that customer satisfaction (internal/external customers) with respect to quality, product cost, and delivery performance is their top priority.
Responsibilities: Fabrication:Responsible for fabrication, branch, and field service operation, fabrication technology, fabrication, and field service planning and control, and HR matters for all employees within the area of responsibility.Responsibility for fabrication equipment and technology. Taking measures to ensure efficient fabrication with minimal downtime. Ensure repair & maintenance within the department, as well as address the maintenance department. Making qualified investment proposals for equipment. Managing daily business in a multi-shift operation. Cost:Continuous search for cost optimizations in all relevant areas ranging from fabrication process and field service improvements, projects for installing at customer side, repair, and maintenance as well as HR decisions to keep or make us competitive.Cost control of cost centers to stay within budget, analysis of deviations, initiation, and execution of measures.Quality:Produces products of the quality required by customers at the lowest possible cost.Monitor existing quality KPIs and add and refine KPIs as appropriate together with the Quality department.Cooperate closely with Quality, R&D, and Sales regarding quality issues.Delivery Performance / Appearance:Ensuring a professional appearance and impeccable best in class behavior towards our customers.Professional fabrication and field service planning and control, striking a good balance between efficiency and flexibility for excellent delivery performance required by our customers. Ensure adequate inventory levels of fabrication and field service-related material to avoid bottlenecks.Operational Excellence:Create and further develop a Lean culture in operations.Avoid wastage.Focus on and foster continuous improvement processes.Initiate, execute, and control results of improvement projects.Implement and continuously apply state-of-the-art methods and lean tools in defining and running operational excellence projects.Norms, Rules & Regulations:Responsible for norm compliance in integrated management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, 50001). Professional preparation of internal and external audits and timely follow-up regarding deviations/findings.Compliance with legal rules and regulations, including health, safety, and environment.Compliance with internal policies.HR:Responsible for all HR matters of employees in the direct area of responsibility.Ensure rapid and qualified onboarding of new staff.Develop skills and attitude of employees.Ensure timely and adequate succession planning.Health & Safety:Ensuring health and safety standards are met.Continuous monitoring and improvement of the working environment as it relates to health, safety, and ergonomics.Finance / Reporting:Thorough understanding and close monitoring of relevant KPIs.Developing and refining KPIs and reports as required.Analysis of KPIs and initiation of improvement measures.Timely reporting of relevant issues.Cooperation:Seamless cooperation and communication with other functional areas and sites to ensure proper flow of information and to gain and share ideas regarding product, cost, and process improvements for the benefit of our customers.Act as a team player, ability to see the overall impact and benefit for the company and act accordingly.Collaboration with other offices and departments:Collaboration with other functional areas at North Americas such as Sales, production, Quality,  R&D process engineering, FI, HR and members of the operations team.Collaboration with Corporate departments within the framework of example defined strategic projects and initiatives in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Quality, Operational Excellence, etc. Authority/signature rights/special authorizations:Decides within his range of authority.Submits proposal to President Americas and Global Fabrication Manager.Reports/information:Generation of various reports (e.g., monthly operations review).Generation of ad-hoc analysis (e.g., related to bigger investment projects, bigger claims/quality issues, important cost savings projects).
Basic Hiring Criteria:Bachelor's degree in engineering (plastic technology, mechanical or process engineering); Master's degree in business or economics preferred.Proven experience (Minimum 10+ years relevant work experience) and strong knowledge in a fabrication management role (Minimum 5+ years management experience).Leadership personality and experience in the management of several locations.Good project management and organizational skills.Excellent presentation and communication skills.Experience with operations and project development of complex industrial lines.Skills in Lean and Kaizen principles are mandatory.Preferred experience in the plastic-processing, rubber, or textile industry.Good understanding of and experience in SCM processes.
