In this role, you will play a key leadership role overseeing financial control, accounting and transforming the financial system landscape. You will be responsible for driving financial performance, optimizing resource allocation, and supporting strategic decision-making from your role as financial controller of the business. You will also bring strong analytical skills, exceptional business acumen, and the ability to lead and develop a high-performing finance team in a complex, fast-paced environment.
This role will report to the Head of Finance and Commercial Management and serve as a member of the Finance and Commercial Management Leadership Team.
You will be responsible for:Operational Efficiency, Process Optimization and System Evolution:
Lead collaboration with group finance functions to run an efficient, business focused and compliant financial control function. Assessment of the current system landscape, define the wanted position and an accelerated path to get there by leveraging AI. Lead the optimization of accounting and financial close processes and automate month-end reporting. Implement advanced financial tools and systems in close collaboration with other finance teams to automate processes, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce manual workload. Drive enhancements in ERP, billing and order management systems using AI-based automation tools. Identify and lead opportunities to integrate AI and automation into accounting operations and reconciliation. Work closely with the head of Business Finance and Transformation to ensure understanding of variances to budget and enhance financial forecasting through AI-powered insights.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Oversee all aspects of accounting end-to-end, including revenue recognition, general ledger, consolidation, balance sheet accounts, tax, cash flow, SOX and international accounting. Oversee the production of accurate and timely financial reports, including financial statements, management commentary, and regulatory submissions. Manage accounting and consolidations for subsidiaries, partnerships, and other structures to enable the growth ambitions for the business. Oversee legal entity governance for legal entities in scope and represent the organization in board and audit meetings. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, group directives and manage complex technical accounting areas. Direct the preparation and accuracy of financial statements to meet regulatory requirements. As well as:Strategic Financial Insights:
Provide financial insights and analysis to senior leadership, contributing to strategy formulation and decision-making. Support management reporting processes with timely and accurate financial data.
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
Partner closely with the Head of Internal Controls to identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring long-term stability and integrity. Audit, Taxation and Treasury Management: Lead and coordinate external audits, ensuring compliance and transparency, and manage relationships with audit partners. Oversee full compliance with tax obligations, optimizing tax strategies and overseeing audits by tax authorities. Oversee cash flow management to ensure optimal liquidity and financial stability, supporting business operations and strategic initiatives. Develop strategies to enhance cash flow visibility and reporting, ensuring alignment with business objectives. What you will bring:Leadership and Vision:
Create clarity - provide visionary leadership for the controllership function, establishing a high-performing team dedicated to financial excellence. Develop people - Mentor and develop the accounting and system teams (currently a team of 30 people), fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. Drive results - develop and efficiently execute on a comprehensive vision for the organization to support strong growth and increasing complexity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to align accounting strategies with business objectives. Support financial planning and analysis, treasury operations, investor relations, and M&A due diligence and integration.
To be successful in the role, you will also bring:
10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience transforming financial control & systems, with most recent scope at a senior leadership level (VP+). Experience within a matrix organization leading financial control for a stand-alone business unit within a publicly traded organization. Consolidation and reporting experience working in a parent company with multiple business units operating in multiple geographies. Experience in high tech, software or telco industry preferred Chartered Accountant (CPA/CA) with previous progressive experience in an accounting/audit firm. Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in IFRS and US GAAP Previous experience managing external financial audits Knowledge of US Income and Indirect Taxation Strong financial systems knowledge and experience including MS Dynamics 365 High level of initiative to prioritize, multi-task, deal with ambiguity and manage projects and deal with people and situations in a professional manner within a dynamic environment.
