Role Overview: The Head of Regulatory & Scientific Affairs (RSA) is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the RSA function across ADM globally. This role ensures that all products comply with regulatory standards and are permissible in all markets, providing crucial regulatory intelligence that shapes the company's strategic direction. This position requires strategic collaboration with various functions, including Government Relations, Intellectual Property, and Research & Development.
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership: Lead the RSA function, developing and implementing strategies that align with ADM’s overall business objectives. This includes collaborating closely with business leaders to support innovation, market positioning, and growth.Organizational Leadership: Serve as the key interface between the RSA function and ADM’s global business stakeholders, setting functional priorities and advocating for regulatory policies both internally and externally.Culture and Talent Development: Cultivate a strong culture of talent development within the RSA team, emphasizing stakeholder relationships, accountability, and a commitment to product integrity.Global Regulatory Network Management: Oversee ADM’s global regulatory network, which includes experts across various markets and sectors. This involves ensuring that the network provides comprehensive regulatory support to the business.External Representation: Act as ADM’s representative in regulatory matters, engaging with external partners and defending the company's interests on technical regulatory topics.Risk Management and Communication: Communicate regularly with LARC (Legal, Regulatory and Compliance) leaders about key regulatory risks, opportunities, and challenges, and develop tools like RACIs to improve cross-functional collaboration.Qualifications:Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant scientific or regulatory field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Nutrition) is required. An advanced degree or equivalent experience in administrative law or regulation is preferred.Experience: At least 15 years of experiencein both U.S. and global regulatory affairs, particularly in food, feed, or ingredients. Proven success in leading regulatory functions across multiple global markets and interacting with regulatory authorities.Skills: Strong business acumen, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to manage and inspire teams. Proficiency in business software such as SAP, Microsoft Office, and PowerBI.Competencies: Integrity, commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and matrix environments.Key Leadership Attributes:Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.Strategic Vision: Capable of anticipating and responding to regulatory changes, ensuring ADM's compliance and market access.Communication: Ability to articulate complex regulatory and scientific concepts in a business context, making them accessible to non-specialist audiences.Location: This is an onsite position based at ADM’s Global Headquarters in Chicago, IL, requiring a full-time presence. Occasional travel may be necessary to meet with regulators, attend industry events, and engage with global operations.
