Our Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory (GLCR) team provides first class advice to colleagues and functions across the organization – ensuring AIG navigates an ever-changing landscape that spans state, federal, and international lines. The team has a multi-dimensional impact, from helping avoid legal exposure to collaborating with other functions to develop cutting-edge new products.
How you will make an impact
You will report to the Global Head of International Insurance Legal for AIG and be part of the extended leadership of AIG’s Global Legal, Compliance & Regulatory organization.
You will partner with the Head of Global Specialty Insurance and lead the Global Specialty Legal team of lawyers and legal professionals within GLCR. AIG’s Global Specialty legal team is responsible for providing legal support for insurance legal matters in all countries for our Global Specialty lines of business, specifically Marine, Aviation, Energy, Construction, and Credit, collaborating with our in-country lawyers and global Centres of Expertise in GLCR.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
Provide comprehensive legal support to the Global Specialty businesses of AIG and to assist them in executing on compliant strategies to achieve their business objectives Coordinate with the Centres of Expertise (COE) heads in GLCR with respect to regulatory, governance, employment, litigation, reinsurance, product underwriting, compliance, data/digital, and all other areas covered by a COE as issues in those areas arise internationallyAct as the main point of contact for the Head of Global Specialty Insurance and his leadership team on all legal matters involving the specialty businessesAnticipate and advise on a wide variety of legal risks associated with AIG’s Specialty Insurance operationsOversee the Global Specialty Insurance legal team in delivering excellent legal support and service to their business clientsSelect and manage outside counsel retained to support the Global Specialty Insurance legal teamCoach, mentor, and develop junior counsel on the Global Specialty Insurance legal teamWhat you’ll need to succeed
Admitted and practicing member of the bar or equivalent legal qualificationExtensive legal experience with a major international law firm or a global insurerSignificant hands-on experience managing and supporting business clients on global, specialty, or international insurance and reinsurance legal and regulatory mattersStrong organizational and project management skillsDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on collaborationProven leadership abilities with experience in managing diverse high functioning teams#LI-AIG
