What you can expect
The Head of Government Relations in Japan will develop and execute policy and government relations strategies to advance Zoom's goals. They will build relationships with government officials, trade associations, and other local stakeholders to achieve policy and business objectives. This role is crucial in keeping Zoom's leadership up-to-date on policy shifts and their relevant business impact. This role is based in Tokyo and reports to the Head of Public Policy and Government Relations, Asia-Pacific and Japan.

Responsibilities
Ensuring that Zoom’s executive team and other key staff, in the U.S. and Japan, are aware of and understand the business significance of local policy developments.
Engaging with key government ministries and officials to advocate Zoom’s interests, including in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Digital Agency, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the National Diet, as well as the National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC).
Collaborating with cross-functional teams, in Japan and the U.S., on strategic priorities.
Driving Zoom’s thought leadership initiatives and local partnerships, including with think tanks, trade associations, policy organizations, and NGOs.
What we’re looking for
Have professional communication skills, with business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English. (interviews will be conducted in both languages)
Have extensive experience in working with Japanese government officials, private sector leaders and other public policy professionals.
Have prior experience in developing and implementing policy strategies around AI, cybersecurity (including ISMAP security authenticate), privacy, and online safety.
Have a skill at building diverse, cross-cultural, cross-functional, and multi-level relationships in a fast-moving and dynamic tech business environment.
Have 5+ years experience as minimum on the similar role, and a BA in law, public policy, business, economics, international affairs or similar fields.
