C.H. Robinson
The Senior Manager Product Development leads the strategic direction for C.H. Robinson’s product development team. They will oversee a
team of talented Product Development Managers that deliver and manage regional trade development. They will also be responsible for
developing sales strategies, identifying business requirements and critical buying criteria, while offering first in class strategies to ensure
sustained growth of CH Robinsons market share on various lanes. They will work with senior leadership to develop best in class performance
metrics and process improvements. The Senior Manager Product Development must possess excellent organization, leadership, talent
development, customer service, and relationship building skills to be successful in this very demanding position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
**Strategy:**
• Ensure productivity and efficiency of business
• Review monthly balanced scorecard of team’s performance and make adjusts as needed
• Oversee pricing and process negotiations
• Lead the product development teams to deliver effective problem resolution and process improvement
• Set the strategy for quantitative, qualitative, and personalized objectives for product development team
• Design, control, and maintain the process for successful service delivery
General Function Management:
• Oversee and adhere to workplace conduct, risk management and compliance practices within the function (regulatory compliance,
internal audit requests and implementing process changes as necessary)
• Develop and maintain external relationships representing CHR at a management level to ensure market visibility and brand enhancement
(i.e., customers, shippers, carriers, industry groups, etc.)
• Ensure that our customers, carriers, and employees are informed of emerging market trends and are well positioned to adapt correctly to
market changes
• Identify and create solutions which enhance operational efficiency and productivity
• Develop sales strategies, target lists, and volume growth
• Develop and manage customer specific data, requirements, and expectations with internal resources to collaboratively create viable
supply chain solutions
**Financial Management:**
• Define, map, and prioritize the specific business capabilities, processes and workflows needed to realize our long-term vision and
strategies
• Provide periodic performance related (KPI) reports related to own team
• Create annual budgets, goals and targets consistent with the overarching goals of the broader global initiatives
**Talent Leadership:**
• Manage annual merit and equity programs for assigned team to align compensation with performance results
• Build a deep understanding of the skills and abilities of team
• Align team’s passion with their potential and commits to consistently providing feedback, development opportunities, offer continuous
training opportunities, and recognition
• Provide individualized coaching plans for direct reports and host semi-annual Talent (performance) reviews
• Encourage employee feedback through formal and informal channels. Acknowledges and take action on feedback to drive a trusting
culture of open two-way communication, inclusivity and continuous improvement
• Promote a culture and working environment that embraces growth and development to meet the needs of our employees and customers,
resulting in higher employee engagement and overall customer satisfaction
• Instill professionalism, ensure adherence to policy and procedures, and encourage consistency of process
**Sales:**
• Direct accountability to the sales process (including but not limited to) implementation and ongoing sales support
• Develop and implement price modeling
• Act as subject matter expert
**Consultation/Customer Service:**
+ Fosters strategic relationships by serving as a key ambassador of the mode/service to the network, as well as to external customers and suppliers.
+ Partners with executive leadership to proactively identify and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.
+ Provides strategic industry insights to the network on emerging trends, market pressures, and competitive analysis of key players in the marketplace.
+ Advises and mentors the sales and account management teams on market dynamics that influence pricing for the mode/service.
+ Leads educational initiatives within the network on service line strategies, vision, and long-term goals.
+ Showcases and enhances product and service capabilities, addressing intricate functional and technical questions.
+ Responds to high-level inquiries from the network on industry topics, market trends, and competitive intelligence for the mode/service.
+ Leverages cross-functional teams within the mode/service, other modal teams, and Customer Shared Services to optimize performance and achieve strategic objectives.
**Vertical Alignment:**
+ Oversee the management and optimization of the Healthcare Teams Channel and Dashboard.
+ Contribute to global initiatives such as the RFI Library, Temperature Control Pricing, and Competency Centre Dashboard
+ Administer Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conduct lane risk assessments, and ensure real-time security monitoring
+ Develop and implement standardized solutions for global healthcare clients.
+ Deliver training and address operational issues within Healthcare Competency Centers
+ Provide support for sales and account management, including content creation and participation in customer meetings
+ Cultivate partnerships with healthcare clients and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Support quality assurance and standards, including the investigation and resolution of Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) reports
+ Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements
**Preferred:**
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Proven flexibility & adaptability to product and customer needs
• Time management and organizational skills
• High emotional intelligence, situational leadership, and coaching techniques
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Understanding of financial statements and key performance metrics
• Track record of building strong customer relationships
