Head of Internal Audit, EMEA
Position Title: Head of Internal Audit, EMEA Location: Luxembourg Job Description: The Head of Internal Audit, EMEA, has complete oversight of all internal audit-related activities across the EMEA region (22 countries, US$5bn+ GPW), who is also the Internal Audit key functional holder of AIG Europe S.A. (AESA). The Head of Internal Audit, EMEA will report directly to the General Insurance Chief Auditor. Specific Responsibilities: + Providing, in collaboration with Global Internal Audit Group (IAG), independent assurance on the governance, risk management and control environment from a firm-wide and local corporate governance and regulatory perspective for regulated entities in the region. + Leading the EMEA IAG function to help achieve Internal Audit’s goals and initiatives and oversee the delivery of all audits in the region. + Driving the annual audit plan for EMEA meeting global, regional, and local legal entity requirements. + Manage assigned teams of multi-disciplined auditors, handling the delivery of several reviews at any one time. + Lead, coach, mentor and develop assigned auditors, performance appraisal and compensation in a professional internal audit environment. + Providing a proactive and professional service to the Board and the Audit Committee and supporting them in the achievement of their responsibilities. + Managing IAG’s regulatory interaction and ensuring IAG continues to meet regulatory expectations. + Leading continuous and proactive communication (written, effective presentations and candid discussions) with key executive management, audit committee members and the board, lead regulators, external audit, and other key service providers. + Actively participating in appropriate senior leadership and Committee forums (local Executive Committee, Business Reviews, Audit Committee, etc.) providing insights, advice and assurance through regular engagement and reporting. + Providing audit service and relationship management to the CEO and the Executive management team. + Keeping the General Insurance Chief Auditor abreast of the changing risk profile of the region and working with functional Audit leaders to maintain appropriate risk-based audit coverage. + Assessing project risks and providing internal audit perspective for regional and global change initiatives. Qualifications & Experience: + The ideal person for this role should have senior leader experience and a track-record of effectively leading and managing teams across multiple regions and jurisdictions, developing strategic direction and enhancing business relationships in an international, regulated environment. + A strong education including an undergraduate degree; graduate degrees in relevant areas of study or professional qualifications (e.g. CPA, CA, ACCA, CIA, CFE, CISA) preferred. Several years of relevant experience in the field of auditing insurance or reinsurance and in the sector of assurances. + Experience in these roles at an executive level would be highly beneficial. + Significant knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry and regulatory issues; prior experience with applicable regulatory regimes including the Commissariat aux Assurances (CAA). Prior insurance exposure strongly preferred. + Demonstrated ability to influence and work effectively within a highly matrixed organization with employees at all levels and in various countries. + Results-orientated with strong problem-solving and program management skills. + Excellent organizational, written, verbal and presentation skills. + Fluency in English language (written & spoken) required and the knowledge of another European language (i.e French, German) is a plus. + Ability to function as a trusted business partner to senior business professionals; providing relevant perspectives and sound judgement; maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality; and gaining trust from the organization at all levels. + Strong interpersonal skills to foster good working relationships based on respect and trust.
