The Head of Internal Audit will report to the Audit Committee while administratively reporting to Equitable’s Chief Risk Officer. The Head of Internal Audit will also have direct and independent access to the CEO.
This role will lead a team of ~25 audit professionals and be responsible for directing the internal audit function. The Head of Internal Audit will have primary responsibility for the design and implementation of the organization’s audit program, ensuring that the organization’s governance, compliance and operations and internal controls are in place to effectively identify and manage risk. The successful candidate must organize, lead and manage the Audit leadership team and staff, and develop and recommend the annual audit plan to the Audit Committee for approval. The incumbent will serve as a liaison to key internal and external constituencies, and work with the company’s leadership team and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
**Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**
* Leadership of the Audit group to include recruitment, development and organization structure.
* Manage and direct all audit activities within Equitable. Oversee the planning of audits, monitor audit progress, review findings, and consult on problems.
* Review and sign off on audit reports to be sent to management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
* Communicate results of audits/projects jointly to leadership and the Audit/Risk Committee of the Board of Directors. Ensure that audit results reflect value-added recommendations, process improvements, ways to strengthen internal controls and compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Develop, implement and monitor audit test plans to ensure the adequacy of the system of internal controls, fair presentation of the financial statements, adherence to company policies and procedures and compliance with governmental regulation.
* Keep the Audit Committee, management, and other key stakeholders fully apprised of any conditions that might have a material impact on the operations and results of the Company, including providing critical data and reporting to the Audit Committee incorporating thematic analyses.
* Direct and participate in special projects, management requested reviews, due diligence reviews, consulting engagements, and technical projects.
* Act as a value-added partner with business unit leadership to develop and implement audit and control policies and procedures, which will support the growth strategies for those units.
* Establish relationships with key regulators and external auditors. Maintain and enhance a deep understanding of the changing regulatory environment within the insurance and broader financial services industry.
The base salary range for this position is $200,000 – $300,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, short-term and long term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

**Qualifications**
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or business-related field, advanced degree preferred.
* Track record of successfully managing in a rapidly changing environment. Proven ability to drive internal initiatives with significant change while collaboratively working with key stakeholders.
* Strong understanding of Equitable’s products and operational processes.
* Familiarity of company’s risk profiles, both financial and operational.
* Prior experience successfully navigating a matrix environment – understanding business processes, decisions, and systems.
* Analytical thinker who drives insights and seeks problem-solving opportunities.
* Strong understanding of the regulatory environment.
* Strong sense of urgency with an ability to maintain close attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
* Proven experience supporting a culture that fosters teamwork, collaboration and an environment that encourages career development and continuous learning. Experience successfully leading and developing team(s) strongly preferred.
* Having unassailable integrity, strength of character, and a reputation as someone who is always acting in the best interests of the firm and strongly demonstrates the company’s values.
