Accountability Statement:
As a member of the General Account Investments Asia team, the Head of Investments, Global High Net Worth, oversees the general account investments attributable to the Global High Net Worth Business (“Manulife Global HNW”) and provides integrated investment support to the Manulife HNW insurance business. The incumbent is accountable for investment portfolio management per strategies, investment performance monitoring, compliance with regulations and internal investment guidelines, and communication of investment activities and results to the Manulife Global HNW senior management.
As a client-centric investment professional, the incumbent will closely collaborate with Manulife’s general account investment desks, Asset Liability Management and/or other functional areas at the business unit, regional, and group levels in the development and implementation of investment strategies, tactical portfolio optimization, and delivery of product pricing and other investment-related support to help achieve the Manulife Global HNW’s business objectives.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and monitor investment mandates outsourced to different investment managers, rebalance the mandate to optimize risk-adjusted returns with the support of the broader General Account Investment teams, and ensure that the overall investment portfolios comply with all applicable segment and entity-level investment guidelines and parameters.Develop ALM led investment strategy design, review and implement such for a multi-asset class portfolio aligned with our investment objectives, risk tolerance and regulatory compliance as approved by senior management.As part of a regional team, monitor and interpret macroeconomic and market trends, providing regular updates and insights to support our investment and risk management strategies.Drive investment decision to achieve optimal asset allocation, diversification, and risk-return performance analysis.Contribute to competitor analysis through surveillance of industry trends, market information and best practices.Recommend and implement changes to investment guidelines and policies as appropriate.Lead cross-functional teams for investment initiatives.Liaise with business unit functional areas, such as Product, Marketing, Actuarial, Finance and Legal to provide integrated investment support, including, but not limited to, capital review, surveillance of and compliance with investment-related regulatory requirements.As our investment representative with peers and external stakeholders to keep abreast of the latest industry trend and standards, and to lead the investment efforts as an industry leader.Lead the Investment Committee and support Asset Liability Management Committee and Board Committee processes and present investment updates and performance as required.Oversee investment outsourcing arrangements, including review and maintenance of investment management, advisory, and service level agreements etc.Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:
12+ years of investment experience in the insurance or institutional asset management industryExperience in multi asset class investmentsActive involvement in asset and liability managementStrong analytical, interpersonal and communication skillsProven team player in an MNC settingUniversity degree in a quantitative disciplineCFA designation preferredAbout Manulife and John Hancock
