Zurich North America is seeking a Head of IoT and Innovation for our Technical Underwriting Team. This role reports to the Chief Underwriting Officer and will be located in our Schaumburg, IL Headquarters.
The Head of IoT and Innovation develops and leads the delivery of Internet of Things (IoT) and Innovation for underwriting across lines of business, focusing initially on delivering Telematics capabilities. Shapes and delivers new cutting-edge risk insights, processes, and customer service underwriting capabilities using enhanced data, technology and automation, and other innovative tools and sources. Provides expertise and advice to the organization, including on future of underwriting and applicable non-underwriting transferable innovative ideas and solutions. Leads a cross-functional team of Underwriting, IT, Data, Legal, and Claims professionals working to actively drive innovative solutions to improve risk assessment, process and efficiency, and customer service. Additionally responsible for managing project budgets.
Responsibilities Include:
+ Develop and implement IoT and innovation strategies for underwriting across Property and Casualty, and Specialty Lines of business, focusing in the first year on telematics capabilities.
+ Lead the creation and execution of new risk insights, processes, and underwriting capabilities leveraging advanced data, technology, automation, and innovative tools.
+ Manage a cross-functional team comprising Underwriting, IT, Data, Legal, Risk Engineering, and Claims professionals to deliver innovative solutions, technologies and data sources into underwriting practices.
+ Provide technical guidance and recommendations as a subject matter expert and act as a project assurance representative on many projects simultaneously.
+ Ensure project objectives are delivered on time and meet stakeholder expectations for quality.
+ Ensures project direction is consistent with the business goals and objectives identified for a given solution; serves as escalation point and provides guidance to engaged, 3rd party contractors and consultants.
+ Leads vendor assurance management and identifies gaps in services provided.
+ Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Security Information Technology, Data Science, Underwriting or Operations areaAND
+ Experience working with IT teams to design, develop, and implement data driven products for non-technical users.
+ Experience leading cross-functional projects and teams.
+ People management experience.
+ Experience with vendor management and establishing strategic partnerships.
+ Experience working with Commercial Vehicle Telematics data at either an insurance carrier, Telematics Service Provider, or Data Aggregator
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Engineering or Risk Management
+ Telematics integration experience within a Commercial Insurance environment
+ In-depth knowledge of Insurtech environment and leading innovative IoT, data-driven companies and solutions for commercial insurance
+ Successful experience delivering IoT and innovation projects that have significantly improved risk assessment
+ Advanced communications skillset needed to drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is 149,500 – 244,900 with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 25%.
