THE ROLEWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Legal, to join the Legal, Ethics and Compliance team. This role will be ideal for a seasoned lawyer who wants to develop their career in a fast-paced, tech-oriented company, and is passionate about technology and privacy matters worldwide. Reporting to Farfetch’s VP Legal, you will lead our legal function in Portugal. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters affecting Farfetch in Portugal, as well as technology contracts and privacy issues worldwide, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks. The ideal candidate will be a Portuguese qualified lawyer with a deep understanding of Portuguese law, including employment and commercial law, and EU Privacy Law, as well as strong leadership and communication skills.WHAT YOU’LL DOLead and manage the Portugal legal team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.Provide strategic legal advice to senior management, including the Executive team, on a wide range of legal issues, including commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, employment law, and litigation.Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of complex commercial contracts and agreements, with a focus on those related to data protection.Provide specialist data protection advice to the deal team on corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions.Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, particularly in data privacy.Manage litigation and other legal disputes in Portugal, working closely with external counsel as needed.Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments, particularly regarding data privacy, that may impact the company's business.Collaborate with other departments to identify and mitigate legal risks, especially concerning data privacy.Act as the key point of contact for data protection authorities, as needed.Foster a culture of legal and ethical compliance within the organization in Portugal.Advise on and implement/monitor data privacy compliance programs, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations, liaising with external counsel as needed.Be a key player in the Global Legal team, with active participation in the Legal leadership forums, and being a champion in the embodiment of Farfetch values and leading by example.  WHO YOU AREA senior-qualified lawyer with at least 10 years PQE (professional experience after internship). Admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association (Ordem dos Advogados).Strong knowledge and experience in Portuguese law, with a focus on commercial and employment law.Deep knowledge of GDPR and related legislation in the EU.
