JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Head of Managed Care Services will work with the Head of Claims, Loss Control, and Insurance Services and other management to establish goals, strategies, plans, and policies to build an industry-leading managed care division. They will oversee and manage the operations and strategic direction of managed care services within the organization. This role is critical to optimizing provider networks, driving cost containment strategies, improving care coordination, and enhancing claims outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in managed care programs, provider network management, claims cost reduction, and the integration of healthcare services within the insurance environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Strategy:Collaborate with the Head of Claims, Loss Control, and Insurance Services to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the managed care division that aligns with corporate goals and market opportunities.Identify emerging trends in managed care, insurance, and risk management to position the company as an industry leader while fostering innovation in managed care programs, including cost containment, provider network development, and claims management solutions.Growth and Business Development:Expand the company’s managed care market presence by identifying growth opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and enhancing client relationships.Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to design and promote competitive managed care solutions tailored to client needs.Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and with key stakeholders to build the division's reputation and influence.Strategic Partnership:Contribute to the corporation’s strategic planning and decision-making as a key partner.Build and lead a high-performing team by fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence, while mentoring and developing leadership talent within the division to ensure succession planning and professional growth.Advise on Long-Term Planning:Assess the impact of long-term plans, new strategies, and regulatory changes on the organization’s goals.Financial Strategy and Analysis:Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance of the division to meet or exceed profitability targets, while ensuring operational processes, systems, and technology effectively support business objectives.Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success, monitor operational and financial results, and provide regular reports to executive leadership with insights, updates, and recommendations for continuous improvement.Policy Development & Implementation:Enhance and implement policies and systems to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness.Mitigate risks by maintaining robust internal controls, audit processes, and compliance standards, while collaborating with legal and compliance teams to address regulatory changes and challenges.Problem Solving & Credibility:Establish credibility by developing solutions to business challenges throughout the organization.Effective Communication:Ensure clear communication with business partners, insureds, and internal teams.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, Insurance, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.Minimum of 15 years of leadership experience in managed care, property and casualty insurance, or related industries.Proven track record in strategic planning, business development, and operational leadership.Deep understanding of managed care models, insurance claims processes, and provider networks.Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on delivering results.Proficiency in leveraging technology to drive operational efficiencies.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday; based on business needs, additional hours will need to be worked. Travel will be required.
