Key Purpose
The Head of Marketing at Discovery Insure is responsible for driving innovative and customer-centric marketing strategies that align with the company’s mission of creating a nation of great drivers. This includes designing integrated campaigns that enhance brand equity, support growth through the shared-value insurance model, and deliver exceptional customer experiences and engagement. This requires an entrepreneurial approach, leveraging the Discovery brand whilst designing creative strategies to establish a strong presence in the short-term insurance market to support growth and customer retention.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to.
Marketing and Brand Strategy: Define and implement the annual marketing strategy in alignment with the business objectives, adapting throughout the year to leverage new opportunities or address emerging challenges. Stay up to date with international best practices and trends to ensure cutting-edge strategies. Integrated Marketing Campaigns: Develop, plan, and execute integrated marketing campaigns across channels, including TV, radio, print, digital, social media, PR, events, and communications. Lead Generation: Collaborate with the CEO of the direct channel and broader teams to design and implement targeted lead-generation campaigns using email, SMS, digital platforms, and other channels to meet sales targets. New Product and Benefit Launches: Lead the end-to-end marketing strategies for launching new products and benefits, from concept development to implementation. Brand Building Initiatives: Oversee the planning and execution of brand initiatives such as Pothole Patrol, Fire Force, and other strategic corporate social investment initiatives. Communication and Client Journeys: Design and implement customer journeys that enhance engagement and satisfaction. Drive revenue through cross-selling and upselling strategies based on data-driven insights and segmentation. Develop personalized marketing strategies to increase customer lifetime value and retention. Adviser Enablement: Collaborate with the distribution marketing team and intermediary channel leadership to provide advisers with the tools, events, activations, and collateral necessary to drive sales. Reporting and KPI Management: Define, track, and report on key business metrics, such as monthly brand performance, marketing strategy outcomes, and business unit deliverables. Present strategies and results to Exco and the Board confidently. Budget Management: Manage marketing budgets effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to meet financial objectives. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provide strategic marketing input across all business areas requiring marketing input. Build trust and credibility with internal teams, agencies, and external partners to achieve mutual goals. Education and Experience
Essential:
A minimum of 8-12 years’ experience in consulting, marketing or the equivalent with a proven track record of conceptualization and implementation of strategy or heading up a department or function. Relevant experience as a head of a business unit or function, leading cross functional teams. A completed NQF level 8 qualification.
Advantageous:
At least 5 years’ experience in the short-term insurance (personal and commercial insurance). Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferable for general business thinking and marketing function. Professional designation: Chartered MarketerEMPLOYMENT EQUITY
