Job Description
Role responsibilities:
To lead the Immunology Medical Team – with strategic responsibility for all the asset/indications/Disease Areas within the Therapeutic Area.To define and execute the Medical Affairs strategies for the Affiliate in the Therapeutic Area under his/her responsibility in continuous partnership with the key cross-functional stakeholders and in alignment with the AMD. To act as a proactive, solution-oriented member of the Medical Affairs Leadership team working in strict partnership with the AMD and the peers to ensure high quality delivery of the activities of the Medical Department, identifying potential areas of improvement, simplification and optimization.To lead and manage the Medical Team (Medical Managers, Medical Advisors, Medical Liaisons and Contractors) who are specifically dedicated to the Therapeutic Areas and the brands, ensuring appropriate coaching and development of the team and execution of the relevant managerial responsibilities.To ensure the effective implementation of the Company/Affiliate strategy for the TAs/Brands under his/her responsibility, setting goals, priorities and managing resources across TAs and brands according to the defined plan, lifecycle and needs, working in close partnership with a proactive, solution-oriented approach with the Commercial and Marked Access cross-functional teams.To provides strategic medical affairs support to cross-functional affiliate partners in the Therapeutic Area under his/her responsibility. Provides leadership, strategic direction, and mentorship to direct reports, and fulfill line management responsibilities accordingly. Ensure that the medical affairs activities are fully integrated to support the Affiliate strategy and its execution, while being functionally independent.To act as the Key Point of Contact for the Global and Area teams for the relevant TAs/Brands, ensuring the input and inclusion of the Affiliate in the co-creation activities and sharing best practices.To be accountable for ensuring the implementation of the tactical plan for the relevant TAs/Brands, for leading the implementation of the Local Evidence Team for the TAs/Brands under his/her responsibility, the coordination of the GAP Assessment Processes across the different Therapeutic Area brands and the definition, in accordance with the key stakeholders, of a Strategic Local Evidence Plan.To partner with CCOM to identify and prioritize Development Studies for the Affiliate and ensure achievement of Medical Affairs objectives in the context of the 1R&D partnership.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
To oversee medical review within Immunology, ensures appropriate use of product claims, coordinates and/or supports medical content for legal and/or regulatory affairs.To ensure the definition and the implementation of the Affiliate Strategic Evidence generation plan for Immunology, ensuring cross-functional alignment and engagement, leading the Local Evidence Teams and partnering with the Head of Evidence Generation as per Abbvie and Affiliate processes and guidance, in full compliance with applicable GCP.To plan, oversee and manage the Medical Budget for the Therapeutic Area for Medical Activities and Evidence Generation, in partnership with Finance and the Head of Evidence Generation and in alignment with the AMD.Partners with the other peers in the Medical Dept. and the AMD to develop the One R&D culture.To be a strategic partner for the BUD of Immunology. To provide leadership of and analytical measurement approach to medical in-field team excellence in collaboration with the Head of Medical Excellence and Medical Affairs Operations for the Areas of his/her Responsibility
Managerial responsibilities:
To Provide Leadership, line management and development of Immunology. Partners with the AMD and the HR BP to ensure team’s resourcing, addresses team´s development needs and ensure the teams has skills and capabilities in place to support the TAs. Ensure team’s member have clarity of their roles, responsibilities & accountabilities.To ensure adherence to applicable company standards, policies, and procedures among affiliate medical staff. Ensure compliance with all training requirements for staff.To ensure the medical team develops and maintains professional and credible relationships with external experts and academic centers. Identify appropriately qualified external local experts who would wish to engage in collaborative efforts – such as potential research collaborations – with AbbVie; ensure a high level of scientific integrity in these collaborative efforts.Qualifications
What You will bring:
Medical Degree or Equivalent scientific background – in pharmaceutical or chemistry sciences. Previous medical affairs pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry experience is essential, and management experience of medical teams & significant numbers of medical/scientific staff for 5 years (minimum) is expected. Demonstrated ability to lead a medical team and to work across different Diseases/TAs.A broad and demonstrated understanding of drug development and commercialization processes, have sound and current knowledge of the regulatory environment, significant experience in overseeing or conducting clinical trials, a solid understanding of trial design and methodology and an understanding of the need to balance safety and efficacy concerns. He/she must have a reputation for leading with high integrity, strong work ethics and compliant behavior.Must understand and be able to plan, manage and execute budgets effectively.Collaborative, team-oriented approach, and will be adept at developing and supporting relationships across an organization as well as with key external stakeholders and the healthcare community. Experience being an active contributor to cross-functional teams and/or working in matrix organizations will be essential. He/she will possess good communication and presentation skills.A strong business orientation and acumen. Sound judgment, good planning, and organizational skills.Good communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.Excellent written and spoken communication skills.Fluency in written and oral English (Minimum Common European Framework Level: C1).Preferred Qulaifications:
