Head of Medical (m/f/d) for Rare & Neurology

We are looking for a Head of Medical (m/f/d) for Rare & Neurology to lead our Medical Rare and Epilepsy Team in Germany as a part of the Rare & Epilepsy Leadership Team.

 

About the role 

In this position, you will ensure that your team operates in full compliance with the UCB Code of Conduct and industry regulations while fostering an innovative and patient-centric approach. You will provide strong leadership, coaching, and training, enabling your team to perform at the highest level. 

 

Who you´ll work with 

As the  Head of Medical, you will lead the Medical Rare & Epilepsy Team and drive the Medical Affairs Strategy in Germany. You will provide medical expertise and scientific guidance to the Cross-functional Rare & Epilepsy Team while overseeing Medical Strategy Leads and Field Medical Leads. 

 

What you´ll do 

 Lead, coach, and mentor direct and indirect medical leads within the Therapeutic Area (TA), fostering an agile, inclusive, and cross-functional leadership style 

 Manage the assigned annual operating expenses efficiently

 Develop, prioritize, and execute Medical Affairs Plans (MAPs) to address identified gaps, ensuring alignment with asset strategies 

 Collaborate with R&D and Market Access teams to support Phase II-III trials, real-world evidence (RWE) studies, local clinical evaluations, partnerships, and investigator-initiated studies 

 Oversee and ensure the timely preparation, review, and submission of scientific publications at major congresses

 Ensure team compliance with regulatory and medical affairs policies within the therapeutic area

 

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills: 

A university degree in medicine (preferred), pharmacy, or life sciences 

A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in medical affairs, preferred in rare disease 

Proven experience in leading teams and driving change in cross-functional and matrix environments

A strong track record of collaboration with marketing, sales, market access, and patient engagement teams to develop and execute cross-functional plans 

Fluency in English and German
