About Diageo Procurement and the Role:
Diageo Global Procurement is accountable for the Procurement of Supply, Marketing and Indirect categories with an annual spend of circa $12bn. Procurement’s vision is to “Unlock the Power of our Ecosystems to win Sustainable Value” with a broad set of value delivery across Cost, Cash, Carbon (ESG) and Consumer impact.The function has gone through a 3-yr transformation journey to strengthen procurement excellence, capability and the delivery of our Society 2030 – Spirit of Progress ambition, which includes stretching commitments in respect to our carbon footprint in Grain-to-Glass (G2G) as well as investment with diverse suppliers and agencies. This transformation has established a solid foundation for the function to shift into the next phase where the level of Procurement contribution to business performance continues to grow.Diageo’s Procurement function is structured to take advantage of our global scale through a model based on Globally led Category Procurement and Market led Procurement teams. We operate a strong collaboration model between our market and global category teams, where we work together as One Procurement Community. Our model enables global strategy development for defined global categories that are then implemented across the Markets considering nuances. The model aims to leverage scale of spend that can be consolidated and controlled globally, whilst at the same time having the appropriate in-Market procurement ownership for total procurement spend that sits within the Market’s P&Ls.The Head of Procurement NAM M&I (HoP) role is a highly strategic leadership role within the NAM market, connected closely into the Global Marketing and Indirects Procurement teams, shaping global strategies and driving execution in the market. This role also sits on the Global Procurement Leadership Team, led by the Global CPO, as well as the NAM Marketing and Innovation Leadership Team, led by the NAM CMO.The HoP drives the development and execution of investment strategies across NAM A&P and Indirects investment, supported by a team of 15 procurement professionals. Effective delivery requires integration and influence across a wide range of partners both internally and externally, using the investment ecosystem in its broadest sense.As the Head of Procurement for our NAM M&I you will lead a team which will:
Play a critical role in driving investment optimisation across our A&P and Indirects spend, ensuring budgets and execution are directed into the channels that will drive growth and return for Diageo & our brandsDeliver stretching cost and cash productivity across the Marketing and Indirects spend portfolio, always enabling business growthStrengthen integration of the procurement function into the broader business building brilliant partner relationshipsBring category management excellence to the next level in both planning and executionDrive improved value from our Supplier and Agency partners, by using capabilities and innovationBe the lead voice on Supplier and Agency risk management and resilience, driving strong compliance across the value chainDrive outcomes across the market, in line with our 2030 Diageo Spirit of Progress goals and market targets, including across Supplier Diversity & Inclusion, Responsible Sourcing & Responsible Drinking, as well as Environmental & Climate management initiatives across Water, Packaging, Waste & Carbon (Scope 3) ReductionAccountabilities: Be the ambassador of NAM M&I within procurement and among Suppliers / Agencies, passionately driving value through Cost, Cash, Carbon (ESG) and Consumer opportunities, in return creating a competitive advantage, and ultimately growing the NAM business.
Define and deliver stretching Market Procurement objectives in alignment with Global Procurement targets and Market FinanceEnsure flawless leadership and partner relationships with the NAM exec, Marketing, Commercial & Indirects Leadership and Procurement teamsEnsure a deep understanding of market needs and global Procurement strategies, defining how this translates into implementationEstablish senior relationships with external partners, business critical / strategic Suppliers & Agencies as well as other companies, bringing external insight into DiageoStrengthen Supplier & Agency performance and relationship managementEmbed our Global Procurement organisation model and ways of working both within Procurement as well as with other market functions, aligned to our Value Chain.Establish a resilient Talent Plan for the MarketContribute to the overall strategic direction of the Global Procurement functionEnsuring high standards of risk management, compliance and governance in an increasingly complex environmentManaging and optimising senior market Procurement ways of working with our offshore Global Business Operations (GBO) source to pay shared serviceExperience, Skills, Capabilities, Languages: A highly strategic, influential and driven individual who builds long lasting relationships that drive value and create high impact over the short, mid and long term.
