Head of Production
**Company description** Prodigious is a production facilitation hub with world-standard content creation capabilities. In short, we manage local and international productions, pulling together the best crews to deliver top quality content – from TVCs and documentary series to photography and animations. Prodigious services all the agencies within the Publicis Groupe, as well as our own clients, with our own fully integrated content production team - meaning we work from concept, all the way through to rollout, with international brands across the African continent, extending into the EMENA zone. We have a fully equipped photographic and film studio, with three newly built studio kitchens in our agency. **Overview** The Head of Production will work closely with the Managing Director and the Deputy Managing Director and the entire production team to manage the full production process. This involves day to day management of staff efficiency and output. The position requires expertise in photographic, video production and post-production. Knowledge of digital media and social media is key. Solid project management and administration skills are required, as well as excellent people management, and ability to work to deadlines. Creative input, direction, and a solution-driven approach to all challenges during the various stages of the production will be required. **Responsibilities** The job process and requirements include the following: 1. **Briefing** + To receive a script, storyboard or concept for briefing. + To interpret the brief in order to ascertain production requirements, budget and timeline for preparation of cost estimate. + Confirmation of the technical specifications, Client and Agency material requirements. 1. **Quoting and Preparation of Treatment** + Be able to ascertain required crew, equipment and other shooting requirements. + Negotiate and liaise with external suppliers. + Source creative elements for a treatment. + Prepare a detailed cost estimate with relevant supporting documentation, and present to Client. + Ensure all budgets are vetted and approved in accordance with the margins set by the Managing Partner. + Input required billing and supplier information into Chase. 1. **Pre-Production** + Meet with Client/Agency to discuss the project before proceeding to production. + Ensure availability of required crew. + Book crew, equipment and obtain necessary permissions. + Schedule and attend work-in-progress and Client meetings and ensure that all aspects of production are discussed and confirmed. + Prepare and oversee the preparation of accurate production schedules. + Monitoring of any and all changes such as additional requirements, scripts, cast, music, etc. + Ensure all usages for talent, stock imagery and music are correctly quoted and processed according to industry standard + Co-ordinate all aspects required for the shoot and delegate tasks to the production team. + Distribute and oversee distribution of call sheets to crew and client. + Monitor budget on an on-going basis + Work with the Managing Partner to set financial targets and ensure optimal margins per project. + Schedule and attend all production meetings. 1. **Shoot** + Management of the shoot — crew, agency, client etc. + Client/agency/Prodigious liaison. + Ensure that the shot-list and treatment is being adhered to. + Manage production crew where necessary. + Problem solving 1. **Post-production** + Attend all Agency and Client approvals and address any and all problems should they arise. + Monitor any changes ensuring that the timing is adhered to and that the budget is being correctly managed. + Monitor all edits, ensuring that the brief is adhered to and that the quality of the edit is up to + Agency and Clients expectations, and to give input where necessary. + Ensure preparation of scripts for the recording session. + Attend voice over recordings, sound design and audio final mix sessions. + Provide creative input where required. + Obtain publishing/master rights and clearance for licensed or copywritten material. + Checking of final material before submitted to the Client. + Have knowledge of final material requirements. + Preparation and completion of the final reconciliation for Client 1. **General** + Responsible for ensuring the company makes a profit at the same time as making sure all the relevant protocols are followed. + Oversee the resourcing of all the production projects. + Consider any risks associated with each production and implement the policies required to ensure operational standards are met across all productions. + Oversee the allocation of budgets and resources, all legal, compliance and copyright documents, staff and contracts, insurance and health and safety. + Leadership: be a direct, effective and diplomatic communicator, recruit, manage motivate and develop the best production teams for the job. Motivate and develop your team, driving change and making continuous improvements. + Negotiation: secure the best deals for the company, have keen business acumen and an up-to-date knowledge of the market + Risk management: mitigate risk in all aspects of production, from financial to operational + Implementing policies and protocols: ensure all productions follow health and safety and data protection guidelines, compliance and copyright protocol and maintain a duty of care to contributors and staff + Business: manage a number of budgets at varying stages of production, marry staffing and production needs with resources + System implementation + Management of supplier and client relations + Consistent and regular reporting to the Deputy Managing Director across the entire spectrum of the Nestle Content Café production 1. **Qualifications** **Required Skills:** 1.
