Position Overview

CAE is seeking a Head of Regional Aviation Safety - Americas to join our organization. This role will assist the Head of Global Safety and EMEA Regional Safety – Civil Division in implementing a global framework for a centralized Safety, Quality Assurance, and Compliance Monitoring system. The goal is to enhance safety, provide accurate and timely data, and support strategic decision-making and Corporate Enterprise Risk Management.

Key Responsibilities

Global Safety Management System: Manage and continuously improve the system to minimize corporate risk, identify operational and training risks, and ensure centralized data sharing.Regional Safety Management: Establish and manage the Safety Management System within the assigned region, mentoring Centre Safety Managers to promote a Just culture philosophy.Risk Assessment: Collaborate with the Head of Regional Safety – Maintenance and Engineering to identify specific Safety and Training Risks in Flight Operations.Feedback System: Manage the Global feedback system to identify deficiencies, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.Data Analysis: Oversee the global centralized Safety data analysis system to coordinate the Corporate Management of Change policy.Safety Audits: Implement and execute the approved Global Annual Safety audit program.Regulatory Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with Regulatory Authorities on Safety matters.Safety Promotion: Liaise with Regional Heads of Quality Assurance and Compliance Monitoring to ensure continuous improvement and harmonization of policies.Training and Mentorship: Implement the Global Training Plan for Safety personnel and ensure training programs are delivered effectively.Investigations: Investigate incidents, accidents, and occurrences in conjunction with Centre Safety Managers.Strategic Planning: Assist in developing annual Safety Performance Indicators.Records and Documentation: Coordinate a centralized records system for all Safety Documentation and implement a confidential reporting system.

Job-Related Experience

Experience Level: Minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.Skills and Qualifications:Experience establishing or coordinating a Safety Management System for Training Organizations or Airlines.Holds an ICAO recognized Flight Crew License to CPL or ATPL level, Instructor Certificate/Rating, or a qualified Safety professional qualificationQualified Safety Auditor preferred.Thorough knowledge of ICAO, Transport Canada, FAR, CASA, EASA, and other NAA regulations.IOSA Audit experience is desirable.Strong leadership skills and experience in a multi-cultural environment.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Self-motivated with high levels of dedication and commitment.Ability to analyze complex Safety, Technical, and Operational events and develop sound recommendations.Experience in investigating aircraft accidents/incidents and Human Factors.

Working Conditions

Travel: 25% or more.Operating Environment: Office, Airport, Training Centre locations with a combination of indoor and outdoor activities.Physical Effort: Moderate physical activity with variable office and on-site activities requiring sitting, standing, and other repetitive motions.
