As a Head of Research & Development (R&D) - CDM you get to work with an astonishing team that plays a vital role in R&D CDM.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Business Sector development strategy

Responsible for the successful implementation of the product roadmaps of the business sector workflows

Setting the development strategy according to agreed BS workflow and product roadmap. Balance priorities between workflow based and specific product features

Align the BS development strategy with Advanced R&D to fuel the innovation pipeline and with the DBU development roadmap to match innovation needs and interfaces

Ensure continuous improvement of interfaces and processes with other departments involved in product development activities within the BS (PM, R&D), SBU (e.g. strategic marketing, sales & support) and other functions such as Operations, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Management and external partners

 

Plan and execute global R&D workflow and development programs

Manage execution of BS R&D roadmap in time and budget from feasibility to introduction to the (first) target markets

Ensure and monitor progress and execution of development programs and projects

Develop and execute workforce strategy, make or buy strategy and competence strategy in alignment with global CoP network and other BS R&Ds

 

Build and maintain networks 

Maintain and expand relationships with key customers, involve selected customers from early-on in the development phase to ensure customer-centric development outputs

Develop general concepts and objectives for the strategic development of the area of responsibility in alignment with general company interests and goals (Core Competencies, Methods, Infrastructure, External Collaborations)

Continuous developing the R&D organization to a high performing system and be a role model, develop, coach and trust employees, according to the ZEISS Leadership Principles

Drive performance through clear and ambitious goal setting, foster teamwork, delegate, listen and communicate openly, drive customer orientation and a winning mentality

Do you qualify? ​

University degree in natural sciences or engineering, additional business administration qualification (MBA) preferred

At least 8 years of professional experience including disciplinary management, broad and in-depth commercial knowledge and planning experience

A high degree of leadership skills (people management, network maintenance) and customer orientation

Well-founded project management skills and knowledge of global service management

Specialist knowledge of drafting contracts

Intercultural negotiation skills

Fluent English language skills

The annual pay range for this position is $219,700 - $274,600.

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

      

This position is eligible for a Performance Bonus.
