What you will be responsible for:
We are seeking an experienced senior leader to be responsible for elevating the resiliency mindset, culture and accountability mentality at State Street. This is a strategic role geared towards liaising with Business Units, Product Teams, Technology Leaders, and Programs to both promote and ensure overall enterprise resiliency. Resilience by Design is a strategic, purposeful and transparent approach to the Operational Resilience of Critical Business Services. It applies resilience principles to the design, construction and operation of Critical Business Services so that outcomes can be provided to end users at an acceptable level both in normal operations and during severe disruption and applies both to how we operate our services as well as how our third-parties operate theirs.
The Head of Resiliency by Design will be responsible for a number of key functions that both support and drive improvements to the resiliency of State Street, including the Resiliency Third Party Due Diligence Team and Resiliency Standards, Framework and Operating Procedures. This role will also be responsible for developing the methodology, processes and standards to drive the implementation and maintenance efforts for the various components of Operational Resilience.
Reporting to the Head of Operational Resiliency SVP, this role will liaise with global regulators, work closely to implement resiliency requirements across multiple legal entities and business units, and provide updates and status reports to relevant governing bodies. The incumbent will maintain close working relationships with SMEs across the enterprise in Global Technology Services, Global Delivery, Risk, Compliance, Audit and Third Party Risk Management.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide key SME leadership across the organization on resiliency programs and initiativesDevelop a high-performing team by mentoring, creating growth opportunities and building a resilient and adaptable team cultureManage the Third Party Operational Resiliency due diligence teamDesign and maintain a Third-Party Resiliency Program that incorporates robust due diligence, testing and reporting processesDrive adoption of best practices in third party operational risk management, including the use of automation tools, data analytics, and dashboards for real-time insightsCollaborate with internal Resiliency Testing COE team to develop and deliver resiliency testing and reporting on suchOwn Resiliency Standards and Operating procedures, ensuring continued adherence to regulatory requirements.Partner with Technology, Operations, Risk Management and other key business units to ensure regulatory compliance and operational resiliency objective are met across the enterprise.Monitor the status of the organizational risk mitigation programs related to resiliency risks and provide reporting to management boards across the organization.Partner with senior leaders to facilitate informed risk decisions by providing relevant content necessary to formulate a prioritized path forward.Maintain up to date knowledge on resiliency best practice and regulatory policies and changes.Drive architectural standards supporting the global operational resilience program inclusive of cyber and third party.Working with Second Line of Defense to define and embed a mature resilience risk frameworkDevelop team’s expertise by coaching, mentoring and implementing training programs.Drive architectural standards supporting the global operational resilience program inclusive of cyber and third party.Integrate with post-mortem processes from major incidents to identify areas of opportunity for enhancing resiliency.Collaborate with various teams across the organization to align and prioritize resiliency and recovery efforts.Experience:
Relevant experience in a similar rolePrior experience implementing transformation programs including Risk, Controls, Cybersecurity, Technology, Third party and Business Continuity enhancementsDemonstrated experience in driving innovation and adopting new technologies (e.g., automation, AI) to enhance operational resilience.Able to define and embed an effective risk and control environment, supporting the implementation of robust standards and the drive and flexibility to operate in a constantly changing environment.Capability to manage cross-functional teams and lead them toward shared resilience goals, proficient in both direct and matrix leadership across a global team.Strong understanding of resilience regulations and compliance standards impacting the financial industry, including global requirements for third-party and operational resilience.Experience working with external auditors, regulators, and industry bodies.Experience of working in an asset management or servicing business and/or a client centric organization, carrying material payments and settlements risk.Exceptional communication skills and relationship management capabilities, able to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively and across Business, Corporate, and Technology subject matter expertsWhy this role is important to us
