Job Title: Head of Risk & Compliance
Reports to: Regional Commercial Operations Manager
Location: London Based
Mission & Purpose of role
To develop and lead a progressive regional compliance strategy across UKI – 19 own sites, workforce of 450 of which 50% are mobile To ensure that all Crown Worldwide UK&I operations are compliant with all relevant legislation and H&S standards Production of all relevant management information, KPIs and statistics supporting H&S/Compliance performance across the region Supporting business development growth with insight and wisdom in the production of RFP/tender responses including such items as GDPR, anti-bribery and corruption, modern slavery etc Working alongside the Regional HR Director to produce a training, learning and development matrix for UKI staff covering all grades and roles Ensuring compliance with Crown’s global compliance standards and practices by working with senior Group risk and compliance functions stakeholders Effective use of existing management systems within Crown Worldwide UK&I and embracing new technologies relevant to the industry sectors we operate within, in ensuring the sharing and transfer of best working practices occurs within the areas of safety and health. To be the external face of Crown compliance as required e.g. communicating Crown’s compliance strategy, supporting joint initiatives with customers and inquiries and investigations should they arise To report on a timely basis, to company management and appropriate authorities on any breaches of legislation that may bring the company into disrepute and ensuring these are followed up rigorously Maintenance of our existing accreditations in H&S, Environmental, Quality , Data Protection & Cyber Essentials Plus, and appraisal of new accreditations as they arise
Key Responsibilities
Management of two fully qualified Risk & Compliance Advisors and a Risk & Compliance Officer, ensuring regular 1-2-1’s and review of goals set, are carried out for each individual. Ensuring that annual priorities are agreed on a business partnering basis with each brand leader and the regional MD and managing the team to achieve the delivery of these goals. Develop and implement training courses within the areas of safety and health. This is to include but not limited to areas of: manual handling training, toolbox talks, risk assessment, method statements and fire risk awareness. “Up Skill” Cluster, Site Managers, Supervisors & Team Leaders to understand their roles and responsibilities under H&S Law. Maintain detailed training records of all employees, ensuring these are updated and additional training is carried out on a regular basis. To personally carry out site audits as appropriate either at Crown, Suppliers or Client premises. Establish working relationships with Crown major clients H&S teams. To assist in the creation of complex risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work where required for specialist activities are engaged. To facilitate external audits and accompany the external auditor where appropriate. Make use of Crown’s IOF system as the non-conformance system, ensuring all H&S deviations from conformance are reviewed with local management and closed out. To assist Bid Proposal specialists in completing customer ‘Invitations to Tender’ and supply chain assessments where required. remit and any other issues as required by the management team that are associated. To carry out regular testing of the Company’s DR Plans, record results and make recommendations for improvements to these plans.
Aptitude, Experience and Qualification –
Minimum of 15- 20 years’ experience in Health and Safety Management. Hold relevant professional qualifications in Health and Safety Management (NEBOSH Master/Diploma – IOSH Graduate Member. Experience of managing, delivering ISO 9001, 4501, 14001, 27001. Lead auditor qualification desirable Hold a CSCS card and have relevant experience in dealing with Construction and Fit Out Works. Have good knowledge of Construction Design and Management regulations. Hold a relevant qualification to deliver Health and Safety Training (e.g., BTEC / IOSH). Be a member of IOSH with a current valid membership number. Experienced in environmental, quality and data protection management systems. Knowledge of GDPR regulations. Be prepared on occasions to work outside normal working hours as the business need dictates.
