About the Role

Drive strategy development and long-term strategic initiatives for AIAHK, while acting as strategic advisor to the executive and business teams, and as a COE for strategy development within AIAHK

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading the process of strategy development in AIAHK, including developing insights, defining new strategic priorities, shaping and synthesizing enterprise-wide strategic plans, and building stakeholder alignment.

Deliver insights and thought leadership on market developments and implications for AIAHK

Monitor competitor developments and analyse drivers of relative performanceIdentify critical trends and changes in AIA’s operating environmentDevelop thought leadership and strategic analyses of emerging opportunities and threats

Identify new strategic opportunities and strategies

Identify levers for enhancing growth and profitability critical to achieving AIAHK’s vision of going ‘Beyond number 1’Identify and shape potential new growth engines and strategic opportunities beyond AIAHK’s existing core businessDevelop strategic and financial case for new strategic initiativesAssemble and lead cross-functional teams for the development and exploration of key strategies by working closely with relevant business leaders and (where required) external consultants. 

Develop and synthesise strategic plans for AIAHK

Orchestrate the annual strategic planning process including alignment of the executive team and key stakeholdersDevelop a cohesive strategic view of the business and synthesize analysis into strategic priorities and robust plans.

Enhance the Strategy team’s role as a COE in AIAHK

Define best practices for strategy development within AIAHKIn capacity of advisor, provide guidance to other business functions within AIAHK in order to strengthen their ability to identify strategic opportunities and to clearly articulate their strategic initiatives and targeted outcomes

Lead and build capability of Strategy team, while effectively managing senior stakeholders

Develop capabilities of Strategy team, including understanding of strategic frameworks and approaches, and consulting skillsetCultivate a positive, ambitious, and motivated mindset in the team.Coach and mentor junior members of Strategy team, developing them so that they can contribute effectively as part of a lean team.Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Group Office, ExCo, and senior leadership team.

Job Requirements:

Preferred candidate profile is from management consulting background, in the insurance or financial services practice area. Relevant in-house strategy experience will also be considered.University degree with over 10 years working experience in strategy roles requiredMBA or similar qualification desirableStrong business acumen and result oriented, with proven track record in attaining business resultsIndustry knowledge of life and health insurance is requiredStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, being open minded to develop and adopt new, innovative ways of workingGood communication, influencing and interpersonal skillsBe adaptable, able to interact and build strong relationships with people from a diverse range of backgrounds
