About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 15 The Role: Head of Strategy and Business Management The Location: New York, NY - Houston, TX - London The Role: The Head of Strategy and Business Management for Commodity Insights leads the division’s strategy and business planning processes and the operational execution. This leader will work with the CI OpCo leaders to develop a compelling divisional strategy that identifies unique opportunities, considers market dynamics and emerging technology, and leverages the broader S&P Global portfolio to establish and maintain a long-term plan for growth that includes organic, M&A and partnership opportunities. Equally important, they must translate the strategy into actionable and measurable plans that drive growth and innovation. Reporting directly to the Co-Presidents, this role requires a visionary leader with exceptional executive presence and stakeholder management who will thrive in a complex, matrixed environment. The successful candidate will be a member of the CI Operating Committee and will partner across senior leadership to align business objectives with market opportunities, ensuring the division's long-term success and competitiveness. This role also oversees a global team including the divisional Chief of Staff, strategy and M&A, reporting & metrics, and core divisional operations. Responsibilities: Strategy Design, Planning and Execution: Manage a strategic planning process to develop and maintain the CI divisional strategy in partnership with Co-Presidents, CI senior leadership and corporate Finance. Execute divisional strategy in close partnership with cross-functional teams across the organization. Support and drive the success of key growth initiatives that align with the division’s strategic focus areas. Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to inform strategic decisions. Develop insights and recommendations to capitalize on market opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic priorities for the business and ensure alignment across S&P Global. Facilitate communication and coordination between different business lines and shared capabilities. Provide operational leadership, innovation and high-quality services across CI to ensure operational excellence. Lead operational collaboration and coordination across CI to delivery on our strategic business objectives. Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Management: Identify potential acquisition targets and strategic partnerships. Coordinate and drive M&A programs for CI in collaboration with SPGI Enterprise Strategy & M&A. Conduct thorough due diligence and manage the integration process to maximize value. Represent the division in negotiations and strategic discussions with the Executive Leadership Team and Board of S&P Global, as well as with critical third parties. Performance Metrics and Analysis: Lead the preparation for Board of Directors meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews, Annual Business Reviews, and Investor Day. Establish and provide visibility on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the performance of the business. Track and report financial and operating metrics for key strategic initiatives. Additionally, lead a small team responsible for: Chief of Staff responsibilities for the co-Presidents of CI, including managing day-to-day operations and preparing for internal and external engagements Driving the cadence and agendas for meetings and offsites of the CI Operating Committee. Supporting communications and engagement activities for the co-Presidents of CI. What We’re Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Extensive experience in strategy development and business management within a corporate setting. Proven track record in leading successful M&A activities and strategic partnerships. Experience leading operations and business analysis and reporting teams. 10+ years in global leadership roles Key Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex data. Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders. Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to drive business results. Strong leadership capabilities with experience in team development and mentoring. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a similar industry or market. Demonstrated ability to navigate and influence in a matrixed organization. Experience building management information infrastructure. Leading global teams Board and Executive team exposure Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $157,900 to $285,475. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
