Job purpose: Leads the strategic direction, technological innovation, and operational excellence of the network department, ensuring the efficient and secure delivery of cutting-edge telecommunications solutions and driving the organization's technological advancement.

 

Key Objectives:

Technology Strategy: Develop and execute a forward-thinking technology strategy aligned with the company's business objectives. Incorporate cutting-edge technologies and industry best practices to drive innovation and deliver value-added services to customers. Technology Implementation: Lead the implementation of technology solutions, overseeing the successful deployment and integration of hardware, software, and network infrastructure to support business requirements. Network Operations Management: Ensure smooth and reliable network operations, overseeing network management, performance monitoring, and incident resolution to deliver high-quality services to customers. Technology Operations: Ensure smooth and reliable technology operations, including IT systems and service platforms, to deliver high-quality services to customers. Security and Resilience: Oversee the implementation of robust security measures to protect the company's technology assets and ensure the resilience of technology systems against cyber threats and potential disruptions. Team Leadership and Development: Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to the technology team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning to drive technical expertise and professional growth. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with key departments, including Network Engineering, IT, Marketing, and Customer Support, to support their technology requirements, drive process efficiencies, and enhance overall business performance. Technology Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities for technology innovation to enhance services, improve customer experience, and gain a competitive advantage.

 

 

Main accountabilities: 

Driving the strategic direction, technological innovation, operational excellence, and overall performance of the network department, ensuring the delivery of cutting-edge telecommunications solutions, network reliability, and alignment with business goals.

 

Qualifications, knowledge & experience:  A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of experience in a senior leadership role within the network department of a telecommunications company or a related industry. Demonstrated experience in leading technology strategy development, network infrastructure optimization, cybersecurity, and team management. Proven track record of driving technological innovation, implementing best practices, and achieving operational excellence in a dynamic telecommunications environment. Relevant industry certifications, such as Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Project Management Professional (PMP), are highly desirable.

 

Functional skills and abilities: Network Infrastructure: In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and related technologies, to oversee the optimization and maintenance of network systems. Telecommunications Technologies: Familiarity with telecommunications technologies, such as VoIP, MPLS, SD-WAN, and SIP, to drive the implementation of innovative solutions and ensure efficient and reliable communication services. Cybersecurity: Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and technologies to establish and maintain robust security measures, mitigate risks, and protect network systems and customer data. Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, to leverage cloud-based solutions and drive digital transformation initiatives. Network Performance Monitoring: Proficiency in network performance monitoring tools and techniques to analyze network traffic, identify bottlenecks, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network performance. Emerging Technologies: Awareness of emerging technologies, such as 5G, IoT, artificial intelligence, and automation, and their potential applications within the telecommunications industry. Project Management: Strong project management skills to effectively plan, execute, and monitor technology projects, ensuring timely delivery, resource allocation, and adherence to budgetary constraints. Vendor Management: Experience in managing relationships with technology vendors, conducting vendor evaluations, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).

 

Financial responsibility:

Financial Planning and Budgeting: Develop and oversee the financial planning and budgeting process for technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, cost optimization, and effective utilization of financial resources. ROI Analysis and Cost Optimization: Conduct ROI analysis for technology investments, evaluate cost-effectiveness of projects, and implement cost optimization strategies to maximize the value of technology investments while maintaining financial discipline.
