The role
As a Head of Training, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll have a pivotal leadership role within the Business Unit, encompassing management of workshop competency, apprentice delivery, adult career progression, and the organisation's bespoke leadership program, aligning all training initiatives with business goals and operational excellence.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive training framework that ensures the development of technical, professional, and leadership skills across the organisation. This role offers the opportunity to shape the skills and capabilities of a dynamic workforce, ensuring the organisation remains a leader in equipment maintenance and related disciplines. You’ll also:
Manage the training department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of high-quality programs. Optimize the use of training resources, including facilities, equipment, and technology Collaborate with senior management to identify current and future training needs. Act as a liaison with military clients, ensuring training aligns with their operational requirements and expectation Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of training professionals, instructors, and coordinators to achieve training objectives
This position involves travel/working across a range of internal and customer sites, as a requirement of the role.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.

Essential experience of the Head of Training:
Proven experience in a senior training or workforce development role, ideally within a technical, engineering, or Defence environment Evidence of delivering a training transformation programme Experience managing apprenticeship programs and adult learning initiatives Demonstrated success in designing and delivering leadership development programs Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
