The Head of U.S. Product Strategy is a senior leadership role within U.S. Product responsible for defining and driving the strategic direction of the product set distributed within U.S. Distribution (USD) for Franklin Templeton. This position involves working closely with various teams outside of U.S. Product team, including Global Product Management, Public Markets Investments, Alternative Investments, Digital Assets, and Specialist Investment Managers to ensure the development of innovative, customer-centric products that align with Franklin Templeton’s overall vision and business objectives. The Head of Product Strategy will play a critical role in driving growth and competitive advantage through the successful delivery of investment services and products for USD.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of the Head of U.S. Product Strategy?

Strategic Planning & Execution:

Lead the development of the product strategy and execution across sales channels within U.S. Distribution:  Wealth Management, Retirement Insurance and Institutional

Collaborate with USD sales leadership to align the product strategy with the channels’ broader goals and financial targets and to manage future growth for Franklin Templeton.

Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscape to inform the strategy and identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Collaborate with various product management teams within US Product and others within Franklin Templeton to deliver on USD’s product strategy, including product rationalization

Product Development & Innovation:

From collaboration across the various product areas within Franklin Templeton, define the holistic product roadmap for USD, ensuring it meets both current market demands and long-term strategic goals.

Work with Product Management, Governance and Implementation to ensure timely and successful delivery of new products and features.

Foster a culture of innovation by continuously identifying new opportunities, evaluating emerging technologies, and driving product enhancements.

Customer-Centric Focus:

Champion a customer-first mindset in the development of products and services, ensuring they deliver real value and solve customer pain points.

Collect and analyze customer feedback, translating insights into actionable product improvements.

Market Analysis & Competitive Intelligence:

Conduct in-depth market research to understand customer needs, regulatory changes, and industry trends and communicate and educate sales teams, as necessary.

Monitor competitor products and financial offerings to ensure the organization remains competitive and ahead of market trends.

Identify and evaluate potential partnerships to expand product offerings and capabilities.

Leadership & Team Development:

Lead, mentor, and inspire professionals across the Franklin Templeton organization to deliver high-quality products and achieve strategic objectives.

Build a high-performing team focused on developing and delivering for their sales channels

Foster a team environment of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the product organization.

Performance Metrics & Reporting:

Establish KPIs and success metrics to assess the performance of financial products in the market.

Regularly report on product performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.

Continuously track and analyze product adoption, customer satisfaction, and profitability metrics.

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

Experience:

At least 10+ years of experience in product strategy or management within the financial services industry.

Proven track record of leading product teams and successfully launching financial products.

Strong understanding of financial markets, products, and services, including digital banking, insurance, payments, and investment management.

Experience with fintech, digital transformation, and regulatory compliance within financial services is highly preferred.

Skills:

Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior executives.

Proficiency in product management tools, data analysis, and financial modeling.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field. An MBA, CFA or advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Franklin Templeton offers employees a competitive and valuable range of total rewards—monetary and non-monetary—designed to support the whole person and to recognize their time, talents, and results. Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $200,000 and $250,000.
