Imagine loving what you do and where you do it. **Job Category** Underwriting **Target Openings** 1 **What Is the Opportunity?** Business Insurance helps companies in the UK and Ireland identify, prepare for and mitigate risks by offering a broad array of industry-specific, combined property and casualty insurance solutions to customers. This includes SME solutions traded directly, Commercial Accounts traded via brokers, and Corporate Solutions to FTSE 350 Risk Managed companies. You will have responsibility for the development and management of underwriting and trading strategies for Europe Business Insurance Retail for your allocated business areas. You will be responsible for the profit and loss of the BI Retail portfolios; and you are accountable for the continuous development of these portfolios and the relevant teams, including underwriting, trading and expert behaviours s, to develop and reinforce the BI Retail specialisms. You will ensure the regions/practices produce and underwrite new and renewal business in accordance with underwriting authorities. You will mentor, coach and motivate a group of Leaders Underwriters across the UK. You are strategic, decisive, detail-oriented, and know how to build relationships internally and externally to drive results. Your ability to lead others in independently assessing complex risk and sell our products in competitive markets will contribute to the profitable growth and overall success of Travelers. Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion. **What Will You Do?** + Drive strong engagement with our broker base, directly lead by example to form robust relationships with all key broker stakeholders, as well as implementing and managing local strategies, objectives and tactics concerning relationships with brokers. + Meet with brokers to maintain and develop positive and productive relationships. + Maintain a strong commitment-based management culture within the branches to ensure that Travelers delivers on commitments made and broker relationships are productive. + Ensure that there is a culture of developing a high market profile of Travelers in designated sectors across all regions. In this capacity, ensure that contractual commitments are met and production opportunities are maximised. Represent the company and underwriting strategy in the area to brokers, employees and the community. + Work with other business units as appropriate to support market presentation objectives and seek out cross sell opportunities as appropriate. + Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of business across the regions; managing portfolios in existing sectors. + In accordance with product leadership, executes long and short-term business; distribution and underwriting strategies to effectively achieve profit and growth objectives for assigned area. + Participate in the development of strategic business planning activities that are designed to increase the presence of the business unit in the market; retain the appropriate mix of business; and achieve overall growth and profit objectives. + Monitor regions profitability and achievement to plan on an ongoing basis via relevant management information (MI) and general production highlights MI templates. + Participate in the establishment of underwriting and marketing strategies and standards that reflect market competitive conditions and, at the same time, meet Travelers growth and profit goals. + Lead the business, directing and managing the delivery of excellent customer and broker service. + Develop and maintain effective relationships with other Travelers teams (e.g. + Distribution, Risk Control, Claim, Operations, etc.) to ensure delivery of all related service to clients. + Perform other duties as assigned. **What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?** + Thorough knowledge of the underwriting and sales disciplines within a business insurance environment preferred. + Thorough understanding of how to run a business P&L, build strategy and successfully execute upon it. + Ability to work with and lead people from different backgrounds, experiences, cultures, races, etc. and views those differences as assets to be leveraged to accomplish business goals and objectives. + Prior experience leading or managing others. + Expert level knowledge of products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market. + Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to underwrite, market products, identify financial challenges, and analyse available information to make decisions in alignment with our risk appetite. + Ability to create and execute strategic direction across assigned region. + Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations with brokers. + Advanced influencing skills, with the ability to influence key stakeholders and impact results required. + ACII qualification preferred. **What is a Must Have?** + Extensive business leadership, knowledge of industry and/or underwriting and sales experience in area of expertise required. + Thorough knowledge of the underwriting and sales disciplines required. **What Is in It for You?** + **Private Medical Insuran** **ce:** On commencement of employment, you are eligible for single cover provided by Travelers, with the option to add cover for your dependents, at your expense through payroll deduction. + **Retirement:** Travelers will make a core contribution of a percentage of salary to your Pension Plan.
