Head of Wealth Advisory and Portfolio Implementation SSGA, SMD

Who we are looking for:

State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) and State Street Wealth Services are working to empower wealth advisors and their investment managers to achieve better outcomes for their clients and themselves, by enabling wealth managers to deliver scalable, personalized managed account solutions to their clients through portfolio implementation.

Portfolio implementation will bring together best-in-class investment personalization software from Charles River Development (CRD) with SSGA’s leading portfolio management capabilities to deliver bespoke wealth advisory solutions in managed account structures. As the Head of Wealth Advisory and Portfolio Implementation, you will work across Wealth Services and SSGA to design and build the portfolio implementation business and oversee a team of portfolio managers responsible for managing wealth client accounts. Initially, you will work with other divisions of State Street to build the entire process - from start to finish. This includes operational work, data acquisition and enrichment, portfolio management, direct indexing, tax aware optimization, investment risk, portfolio compliance, trading, and reporting. Your expertise in this area will be vital to the success of our effort.

You will report directly to SSGA’s Chief Investment Officer of Systematic Equities. You will work with units across SSGA, CRD, and Wealth Services to achieve our ambitions. You must have vision, drive, and the ability to execute, together with superior leadership skills. You will be expected to be actively involved in major sales opportunities and C-Level client relationship management. Deep Market knowledge of the wealth management industry alongside a quantitative portfolio management background and proven record of using software and risk models to manage client portfolios is required. Strong knowledge of end-to-end process including operations (middle and back office,) portfolio management, trading, and compliance is also required.

What you will be responsible for

Collaborate across functions and State Street business units to design and launch technology enabled separately managed account programs. This includes detailed roles and responsibilities across business units, contingency planning, and scenario analysis.Oversee a team of portfolio managers responsible for day-to-day management and rebalancing of client portfolios.Play a key role in major sales opportunities and client relationship management of key clients.Partner closely with Wealth Services and CRD to design and implement new SMA programs for wealth manager clients and new functionality for existing clients.Engaging our employees and creating a rewarding work environment.

What we value

Previous experience in a similar role, e.g., launching and managing separate account programs including SMAs, UMAs, and Direct Indexing strategies for wealth clients at scale (ideally at a large SMA or Wealth manager) Quantitative investment background leveraging software platforms, risk models and optimization at scale for wealth management portfolios.Deep market knowledge of the wealth management industry including competitive positioning and ability to quickly help differentiate State Street’s portfolio implementation solution from competitor offerings.Senior leader with demonstrated ability to partner across businesses / functions and be a champion for Portfolio implementation and the growth of wealth advisory services within State Street.Proven record of strong stakeholder and client management both internally and externally.A strong history of building and leading high-quality teams and instilling in them a performance orientation, engaging and inspiring in them a sense of shared purpose and the collective skillsets needed to deliver stretch goals.Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills.Must be able to credibly engage and build relationships with C-level management.An analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is required - a business management, finance or technical degree is desirable.Proven experience in a similar or relevant role.CFA, CFP, and/or MBA are strongly preferred.Detailed knowledge of optimization, risk models, trading strategies, compliance, risk management, and operational process is required.Experience in the global wealth management industry managing separate account programs at scale is required.

Additional requirements

Must have the ability to display depth and understanding of market, solutions, and product content.Ability to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues.Experience in the mitigation of risk and meeting all compliance & legal requirements.Comfortable in engaging with senior-level client leaders, at industry events, and in the media – must be able to connect with various audiences.
