Professional Sports As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University Ancilla College (Plymouth, Indiana) seeks a Part-Time Head Wrestling Coach to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by contributing to the ongoing development of student-athletes in their academics, athletics, and faith. Marian University is a Catholic, comprehensive, regional institution of higher education dedicated to excellent teaching and learning in the Franciscan and liberal arts traditions. It offers a multitude of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Marian University has been experiencing significant growth over the last decade and is expanding its academic offerings. Coaches are expected to lead with Franciscan values and be able to model and provide strong leadership and mentorship to their students.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies. Develop and implement a successful soccer program that align with the school's mission and values. Recruit and retain a sufficient number of talented student-athletes to build a competitive team. Plan and execute effective practice sessions and game strategies. Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to student-athletes on and off the court. Maintain compliance with NJCAA and MCCAA rules and regulations. Collaborate and communicate with athletic department staff, academic advisors, faculty, and other campus stakeholders. Manage the team's budget and travel arrangements. Promote the program through community engagement. Ensure the academic success and personal development of student-athlete. Attend coaches' meetings and training when required/or needed. Coordinate all meal/food planning and needs with campus food services or make the team's arrangements for food on weekends or when traveling. Responsible for checking all athletes' grades and attendance weekly and reporting challenges or concerns promptly to AD. Schedule all lodging and traveling needs (scheduling vehicles) with campus maintenance/ops and AD. Manage assistant staff as needed to help with these tasks/responsibilities. Submit all purchase orders/supply orders by deadlines and follow the proper process for turnaround to assistant AD. Successfully complete MUAC coaches training program for all MUAC athletics coaches beginning in Fall 2025. Meaningfully engage in sport-specific fundraising activities as well as athletic-department fundraising initiatives as assigned by the Athletic Director. Maintain compliance with all MUAC institutional policies and procedures for employees as well as all MUAC athletics policies and procedures for employees working in MUAC athletics. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations. Comply with other reasonable directives and duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree. Coaching experience at the collegiate level or head coaching experience at the high school level. Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to recruit and motivate student-athletes. Commitment to the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
