What You'll Do:

 

As a HSES Compliance Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation by providing strategic and tactical oversight in the development and implementation of facility Responsible Care and Safety & Health programs and initiatives. 

 

What We're Looking For:

This is an important role for the site’s management systems improvement initiatives to include but not limited to coordinating document control, corrective actions, change management activities, regulatory and RC 14001 compliance. Verifies effective preventative and corrective actions from compliance audits and Incident Investigations and ensures proper closure timing and proper personnel are assigned. Assumes document control activities from processing to the release of information for HSES programs, procedures, and forms. Evaluates conformance and effectiveness of existing site HSES programs and procedures against Lubrizol Corporate Standards, including inclusion of industry and Lubrizol best-practices. Develops, updates, and standardizes internal procedures, including the document approval process and site-wide distribution. Coordinates with the site’s Learning & Development team to ensure effective training and procedure learning tools are developed and implemented for HSES programs and procedures and Responsible Care Management Systems. Support the HSES department with the New Employee Orientation training classes on HSES programs and Responsible Care Management Systems, including SharePoint navigation and program tools. Assists with change management process for existing HSES programs and procedures, from change request to impact assessment, implementation, and closure to maintain the integrity of the management system. Prepares monthly reports of investigation, corrective action, document control and change management activities including status and data trends. Maintains and manages the monthly HSES department compliance calendar. Prepares monthly hours for HSES reporting as well as the OSHA Annual 300 Log Reporting requirements. Coordinates FM Global Insurance audits with the risk group; from an HSES perspective. Conducts or assists with internal site audit preparations. Attend assigned department scheduled meetings for metric reviews, report-outs, and company-wide updates when applicable. Interact and work with the production, maintenance, and engineering departments to provide technical support related to regulatory compliance and the development of practical solutions related to safety, industrial hygiene, training, fire protection emergency management, and recordkeeping. Other duties as assigned. Successful candidate will work 5/8’s; 9/80; flex work schedule. 

 

Skills That Make a Difference: 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. 10+ years of experience working in an industrial, chemical, petrochemical, oil-refining or manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of RC 14001 requirements. Experience working with regulatory agencies for audits, non-conformances, incident investigations corrective actions, and improvement coordination General business, technical and regulatory knowledge. Experience as a Site Responsible Care Coordinator. Experience leading site Compliance Audits and Responsible Care Surveillance Audits.  Demonstrates proactive and responsible attitude for personal safety and the safety of coworkers, contractors, and the public. Strong verbal and written communication skills with effective interpersonal skills.  Effective time management and organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Proven ability to interface and communicate at all levels of the organization including management, technical, manufacturing, maintenance, and contractors. Excellent analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to assess multi-faceted situations/problems/concepts. Must be self-motivated, team-oriented, well organized, and able to manage multiple initiatives successfully and timely, relying on minimal supervision. Ability to give clear direction and support to client groups to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and Microsoft Office products, primarily the use of word processing, database applications, presentation, and spreadsheet software. Expected to periodically be in the manufacturing floor setting and operating areas, which could be during inclement weather. In addition to this, must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment to include but not limited to: Hard hat, Safety glasses, Goggles, Face shield, Safety shoes, Protective clothing. Considered a plus: SAP knowledge Power BI knowledge Strong analytical, process improvement, and decision-making skills Knowledgeable of incident investigation and analysis tools (Cause Mapping, 5-Why’s, FMEA, etc.) and be able to participate in or lead Incident Investigations, as required
