This is an opportunity for an individual to join and gain experience working in the Scotch Governance H&S function, which is based in Scotland.
We are looking for an upbeat, and adaptable individual to join our team as an Health and Safety Coordinator based at Shieldhall, Glasgow.
Some of the key responsibilities are
Develop, implement, and maintain the company's comprehensive environmental plan.
Conduct regular environmental audits to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Lead initiatives aimed at reducing the company’s carbon footprint and promoting resource efficiency.
Engage employees through training programs and awareness campaigns to foster an environmentally conscious workplace culture.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into all business processes.
Serve as the lead for Health, Safety & Environment governance within the Integrated Task Force (ITF).
Ensure adherence to Shieldhall's Health, Safety & Wellbeing standards and local legislation through rigorous monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
Actively participate in strategic projects such as new equipment and installations by collaborating with Project Implementation Leads (PILs), project teams, and start-up teams.
Ensure that health, safety, and environmental considerations are integral parts of project planning and execution phases.
Use data analytics to track project performance metrics related to HSE outcomes.
Provide expert guidance on best practices in HSE management during project design reviews.
Oversee vendor acceptance testing processes to ensure new equipment meets Shieldhall's stringent HSE standards before deployment.
Coach vendors on Shieldhall’s health, safety, and wellbeing standards during both installation and operational phases to ensure full compliance.
Work closely with suppliers to develop robust environmental management systems that align with Shieldhall's sustainability commitments.
Implement continuous improvement programs with vendors aimed at enhancing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) while maintaining high safety standards.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can work well within a team, make effective decisions, and thrive in problem-solving situations. You’ll bring energy and adaptability, with the ability to push forward improvements and share ideas that drive manufacturing excellence. Excellent communication skills are a must, as is a proactive approach to health and safety compliance.
You’ll have demonstrable knowledge of health and safety legislation and environmental risk principles.
It’d be great if you had, or were willing to work towards, the following (not essential):
NEBOSH Certificate qualification in Occupational Safety & Health and/or Environment
A proven track record in handling health, safety and, incidents and activities.
