Job Description:
The HSE Specialist reports to Site HSE Manager and is responsible for the development, management and execution of the health and safety of the site. This critical role understands the interworking relationship between HSE, operations, and Quality and Food Safety. This role will primarily focus on Safety and industrial hygiene initiatives.
This position is not only accountable for ensuring compliance with national and local HSE laws, regulations and Corporate HSE Standards but for driving the Mars HSE Culture at the site. This position is responsible for translating and executing the site’s overall HSE strategy (as set by the site HSE Manager and Corporate HSE Team), executing and improving on site policies and procedures which are consistent with the Company’s vision, mission and values, and driving the HSE Culture of the site.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Science Engineering, Chemistry, Safety, IH, Environmental or relevant disciplineDemonstrated leadership in driving a program/system of safety or environmental in a manufacturing environmentStrong safety regulatory knowledge and expertise, including EPA, OSHA and DOTPreferred Requirements:
5 years of experience implementing safety programs in a manufacturing environmentASP / CSP or ability to achieve ASP within 12 monthsExperience with hazard recognition, behavioral-based safety, job hazard analysis and Process Hazards Analysis Experience with confined space assessment and entryBasic knowledge of food manufacturing and GMPWhat will be your key responsibilities?
Responsible for development and deployment of assigned HSE Standards as they specifically apply to the site.Execute site efforts to measure and improve critical HSE programs.Leads the effective implementation and utilization of risk assessment and risk prediction processes at the site and drives for appropriate mitigation measures to lower associate risk. Ensures effective communication and understanding by all affected associates.Executes proper management of the site’s construction and contractor safety activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations and standards.Delivers training and coaching to establish clear understanding by all site associates on HSE expectations.Ensure Site maintains continuous “audit ready” state of compliance with company and governmental HSE Standards.Delivers training and coaching to establish clear understanding / engagement by all site associates on HSE expectations.Ensures investigation of all HSE related incidents utilizing specific tools to drive to root cause and identify actions to prevent recurrence. Drives completion of recognized corrective actions to prevent incident recurrence are effectively implemented, this includes execution of corrective actions developed from other site incidents.Serves in conjunction with site HSE Manager, as a HSE technical expert, providing technical expertise/coaching as needed in all areas and initiatives of the function to include capital project review and risks management associated with non-capital modifications#LI-AS2
