Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor
Job Description
As a Health & Safety Advisor, you are instrumental in the development and implementation of various health and safety initiatives for residential and commercial projects. With your extensive experience, you demonstrate professional judgment and foster effective relationships at all organizational levels.
ResponsibilitiesAssist in the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Corporate Safety, Environment and Business Management Systems.Review or develop site-specific plans, orientations, safe work practices, and procedures.Review or conduct accident/incident investigations.Review or conduct site-specific inspections.Review or conduct site-specific audits.Develop and distribute Weekly Tailgate Safety Meeting Topics, Near Miss Reviews, and Red Alerts!Review or conduct new worker and site-specific orientations.Administer the New Hire Program.Schedule, organize, or conduct safety training.Assist in scheduling and overseeing site-specific monthly JOSH committee meetings.Assist in administrating the Injury Management Program for injured workers with medical restrictions.Maintain safety supply inventory.Maintain monthly/ annual safety statistics.Liaise with various internal company personnel such as HSE Manager, Superintendents, Foremen, and Workers.Liaise with various external company personnel and groups including WorkSafeBC, BCCSA, and Contractors.Maintain strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC Regulations, Canada Labour Code, National Safety Code, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).Essential SkillsTwo years of experience working as a CSO locally, ideally in BC.CSO level 3 certification including Confined Space Entry & Rescue Certificate and Fall Protection Certificate.Two years of experience as a CSO in the construction industry, with a preference for experience in HighRise, Residential, Civil, Industrial, and Municipal infrastructure.Minimum Occupational First Aid Level 2 with active certification.CPR certification.Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Experience in incident investigation and causal analysis.Additional Skills & QualificationsCandidates with a background in skilled trades or experience in civil and building construction will be highly considered.Additional training in Fall Protection, Rescue/Confined Spaces, and Bobcat/mobile equipment operation is beneficial.Proficiency with Procore is a significant advantage.National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification.Work Environment
This role offers the chance to turn permanent and move onto new projects after the project duration. Benefits are provided through Manulife, and there is a yearly salary review after the contract. You will have the opportunity to work on BC's top road and civil projects.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00
