Work you’ll do
As a Deloitte Consulting Health Actuary Consultant in Deloitte’s Human Capital group, you will assist Deloitte Managers, Senior Managers and Partners in providing strategic and technical consulting services to health plans, providers, Federal and State governments, PBMs, etc.  

At Deloitte, you can be a part of the transformation of the health care sector. Deloitte’s health actuaries are participating in the development of evidence-based medicine, and the transition of payments from paying for what is done to paying for the value provided. Deloitte health actuaries are involved in designing new programs that are smarter about how public funds are spent. These types of problems require actuaries who are not only technically strong, but also can be innovative, capable of addressing ill defined, complex problems and have a business orientation. 

Other responsibilities include: 

Individual medical and small group health care reform modeling for health plansPrepare SQL models to price health plan benefit changesReview MA and Part D bid submissions for accuracy and consistencyModel lapse and retention rates, prepare results to share with clientsCreate models to calculate ROI for medical management and other health plan initiativesPrepare IBNR modeling spreadsheets for audit reviewsProvide project management support including preparing work plans, reports and client presentations


The team
Organization Transformation
The Organization Transformation practice is about transforming the organization (and the benefits providers that serve them) to support its business strategy. This involves helping our clients move from where they are today to where they need to be in the future. It could include changing the organization’s culture, modernizing specific functions, re-designing the organization structure, and will require a combination of change management actions to execute the transformation. To enable our success, it will be critical to use data and insights to inform better ways of working together.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree2+ years of Health actuary experienceSuccessfully passed 2 actuarial examsLimited immigration sponsorship may be availableAbility to travel up to 50% on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve

Preferred:

2+ years of consulting and/or health plan/insurance company experienceTechnical background in health actuarial, underwriting and other areas of health care financeStrong understanding of health care plan design, alternative delivery systems, and current developments in the health care industryUnderstanding of Health Care Reform 3 RsExposure to reimbursement mechanismsStrong client presenceAbility to work well in team-based environmentProject management, presentation, and facilitation skillsWell-organized with the ability to handle several projects/clients simultaneouslyWell-developed verbal and written communication skillsProficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPointAbility to work independently and develop client relationshipsStrong work ethic with a commitment to client service excellence

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $88,800 to $148,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
