Job Description

The Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator ensures health and safety and environment compliance and provides support for onsite EHS support.

Main Responsibilities:

Collaborate actively with plant operations and maintenance staff in all health, safety and environment topicsCollaborate with teams for SOP compliance, creation and benchmarkingResponsible for assisting in corporate programs rollout for EHS purposesResponsible for creating and fostering an onsite health and safety cultureResponsible for root cause analysis participation and review/facilitationResponsible for assisting in ISO audit and recertificationResponsible for monitoring occupational medical surveillance program and protocolsConduct compliance audits (environmental, health and safety) on site, submit recommendations, help while results are pending and ensure follow up of corrective actionsStandardize, update and draft documents and procedures associated with files processedEnsure follow-up of environmental incidents and work accidentsIf necessary, train employees on the application of certain regulations and procedures related to the health, safety and environment at workConduct investigations of incidents and accidents and follow up of corrective actionsEnsure good communication and cooperation with corporate teams SST and Environment;Collaborate to update the site emergency plansEnsure that the environmental monitoring of the site is executed (groundwater, process water, storm water, air emissions, etc.) and is consistentRespond to customers audit questionnaires, and is attend and support during the audit as requiredAssisting with industrial hygieneAssist in managing environmental nonconformities (received by authorities)Monitor the site when shutdownParticipate in health and safety committeesEnsure good communication with WCB representatives as necessaryAttend, if needed, the person in charge of claims filesEnsure the compliance of subcontractors and their pre-qualificationTrain and inform workers of Veolia and subcontractorsOther duties as assigned

Qualifications

Requirements: 

Environmental training, or health and safety related training5-8 years of experience in an industrial areaKnowledge of laws and regulations on environment, health and safety.Ability to work in teamsAbility to prioritize, organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyProfessional attitude oriented towards customer satisfactionDynamic, interpersonal skillsAbility to persuade and communicate ideas

Work Environment: 

Permanent position, offered on a full-time basis. 

Spends ~70% of their time on the site in an industrial plant setting, ~30% in an office environment. Comfortable in industrial plant settings, able to use respiratory protection (clean shaven), comfortable with stairs, working at heights and confined space entry.

Salary: $60,000-$75,000/year + eligible for company annual bonus program
