About the role

The Health & Safety Manager is a member of the management team. He/she oversees and develops the structure of the health and safety sectors. He/she determines the strategic objectives of the sectors in line with the organization's vision, mission and values. The manager adheres to the company's principles by adopting an efficient, proactive and sustainable management approach.  

Essential Duties Plan, organize, direct and control health and safety activities Ensure health and safety supervision of all site workers Develop, approve and implement occupational health and safety strategies, policies and procedures for the entire site, including construction projects Coordinate nursing teams, hygienists, preventionists, superintendents and health and safety coordinators Maintain required systems related to the emergency measures program  Ensure, in collaboration with human resources managers, the smooth running of employee and contractor induction systems, as well as training supervision and competency verification systems. Establish sector objectives in line with organizational principles  Coordinate the activities of joint health and safety committees  Coordinate activities surrounding the various first responder brigades  Develop internal accountability, at all hierarchical levels, in matters of health and safety.  Promote a culture of prevention in line with the organizational vision, while supporting the various departments.  Support and advise and/or represent the management team in litigious cases or cases brought before various administrative or legal bodies in the field of occupational health and safety.  Ensure constant representation of health and safety sectors on the management team  Responsabilités principales (suite) Manage and follow up on files requiring action at a higher level  Respect, understand and promote company regulations and policies, particularly in the area of health and safety.  Support all financial functions, including accounting and cost reporting, review and analyze detailed monthly cost reports  Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of SEMS throughout Éléonore's operations  Resolve problems related to his/her area of activity and recommend measures to improve department productivity  Manage staff, evaluate performance and oversee employee development  All tasks related to the performance of his/her duties Training & Experience University degree in health and safety   5 to 10 years' experience in a health and safety management position, preferably in the mining sector Computer skillsBilingualism in English and French essential  Competencies Strategic vision  Partnership and teamwork in a multicultural environment  Good oral and written communication skills  Analytical and problem-solving skills  Lead and develop employees  Organizational skills  Ability to adapt  Working conditions Eleonore Mine Site (fly-in, fly-out from Montreal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn-Noranda, Val D'Or and Wemindji) Schedule : 8 days of work followed by 6 days off, 4 days of work followed by 3 days off
