ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Impact on the Business

1) Ensure HSBC provides a first class HS risk management control process within the Market to minimise accidents to employees, customers, visitors, contractors and the general public, and as a consequence raises the profile of HS management across HSBC within the country.

2)Together with the Market CS team assess and document HS risks and based on this to develop then manage a Market HS action plan.

3)Provide professional advice, training communications to ensure that employees at all levels understand their responsibilities and help them to conduct their activities in a safe manner.

4)Identify all local HS legislative requirements ensure that the requirements are complied with and any non-compliance is remedied through the country action plan.

5)Ensure an appropriate HS audit and inspection programme is implemented to ensure that Group Market HS standards, policies and regulatory requirements are met.

6)Together with the Market CS team measure and report on KPIs KCIs set by Group HS.

7)Ensure that all accidents and incidents are reported to the HS Manager in Region in accordance with the incident reporting requirements. Assist the HS Manager in Region with the investigation of all major incidents or serious accidents.

8)Assess the need for resources to implement the HS action plan, providing support to branch or subsidiary HS coordinators or representatives.

9)Ensure a process for two-way HS communication is put in place with forums where relevant to ensure continued employee awareness. Ensure that a regular communication process is implemented to keep relevant parties updated on progress with HS plans.

10)Participate in region-wide HS activities and support other local Markets where HS resources may be inadequate as part of professional development.

11) Ensure all third parties meet / follow HSBC HS practices (e.g. risk assessment; method statement; permit to work etc.); they are managed effectively; and that they provide a consistent and compliant first class HS service.

12)Ensure all new buildings / new refurbishment work meets Group HS standards and 6 monthly building assessments are performed.

13)Ensure compliance to all the HS mandatory procedures and pro-actively look for gaps to create management action plan

2. Customers / Stakeholders

1)Provide HS consultancy and problem solving when required.

2)Manage key third parties in their support of the HS requirements.

3)Interaction with Market CS team with regards to HS requirements and incidents.

3. Leadership Teamwork

1)Ensure that a Market risk assessment and Market action plan is in place covering: HS policy requirements; local legal requirements; identified HS risks and issues (HS MSIIs, audit points).

2)Apply for HS related dispensations when required.

4. Operational Effectiveness Control

1)Ensure that compliance with local HS legal requirements, local HS codes of practice and HSBC HS policy is achieved across the country and such compliance is documented and made available to the oversight 1/2/3 LoD(Lines of Defense) team.

2)Implement an effective risk assessment process across the country which both looks at HS risk in each building but also looks at major HS hazards - e.g. natural hazards (earthquakes etc.), contractor safety, out of work event safety.

3)Collate HS reports, incident statistics and KPI for their country and submit to Region and 1/2/3 LoD to agreed timescales. Ensure any regulatory HS reporting is achieved.
