Health and Safety Manager

Hexcel is currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA, Matrix location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Manage and oversee interactions with government agencies, professional groups, community advisory panels, corporate leadership, and all internal safety activities.Develop, implement, and manage health and safety programs, initiatives, and culture to drive performance in pursuit of an incident free workplace, maintain compliance and meet regulatory requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.Work collaboratively with site leadership to review work processes and conditions utilizing a risk-based approach to determine the appropriate levels of control to ensure the safety of our employees and compliance with Hexcel and regulatory requirements.Ensure compliance to health and safety standards, by supporting work area inspections, conducting audits and ISO self-assessments, assisting in operational readiness reviews, and reviewing operating procedures.Advise and actively participate in risk and hazard evaluations of existing processes, equipment, and all new capital investments, including process safety and change management principles.Oversee annual internal assessments of the EHS Management System to ensure compliance with ISO 45001 Standards.Provide timely resolution to safety risks by helping to define the risk, determine the root cause, establish action plans and priorities, identify continuous improvement opportunities, support the review of mitigation strategies, and provide general technical assistance.Promote safety consciousness among employees by working with cross functional teams i.e. operations, maintenance, and lab, to support EHS meetings and training, provide timely feedback on EHS suggestions to effectively lead site health and safety programs and systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in safety or related technical field, CSP or CIH preferred.7+ years of EHS experience in an industrial setting with 3+ years of managerial experience, Chemical manufacturing experience, preferred.Experience in root cause/corrective action methodologies required.Strong understanding of occupational health and safety with experience in coordinating Process Safety Management (PSM) activities and compliance; familiar with HAZOP and other PHA methodologies preferred.Regulatory knowledge of applicable OSHA, and PSM regulations, experience managing 45001 certificationsAbility to effectively influence site leadership, Production, Operations, Maintenance, and other site management to drive EHS performance and results. Ability to effectively lead cross functional teams and influence cross functional departments.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively work with site leadership and hourly staff in a union facility.
