Position Purpose:
The Health and Safety Manager has comprehensive leadership responsibility for the implementation and administration of all Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and OSHA compliance Programs at the Veolia Gum Springs Facility. The Health and Safety Manager shall strive to provide a healthy and accident-free work environment for all employees through the recognition, evaluation, and control of environmental and workplace health hazards. The Health and Safety Manager shall counsel management and employees honestly and completely in the responsible and ethical application of environmental and industrial health principles and practices.
Primary Duties /Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement site specific programs in accordance with published OSHA standards and Veolia ES Technical Solutions Health and Safety Policies.Develop a Safety Plan and vision for the EH&S Department and site.Educate and train personnel as necessary to implement site specific health and safety programs.Coordinate workers' compensation and accident and injury management programs with facility health and safety personnel to identify adverse trends and develop meaningful productive standards resulting in cost effective operations.Collaborate closely with the Insurance team to efficiently process, oversee, and resolve Workers Compensation claims, ensuring compliance with regulations and optimal outcomes for both employees and the company.Compile, analyze, and submit comprehensive monthly regulatory reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all relevant legal and industry requirements.Lead thorough root cause analyses for workplace incidents, utilizing established methodologies to identify underlying issues, develop corrective actions, and prevent future occurrences.Oversee the coordination and execution of annual employee physical examinations and manage the company's Drug & Alcohol Program, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations while maintaining employee confidentiality Implement industrial hygiene programs as well as modifying existing plans to meet the needs of the facility.Provide guidance to all levels of management regarding utilization of appropriate health and safety practices in accordance with regulatory requirements.Provide training on all applicable health and safety standards and policies as needed.Provide appropriate research and investigation to support the development of existing and/or potential new health and safety policies as determined by management or required by federal, state, or local agencies.Perform field inspections as needed, including with the union safety committee.Lead and facilitate the monthly H&S Committee Meetings.Perform High Risk Task Inspections consistently.Build a safety culture that embodies the Veolia Gum Springs and ESS Way that will leave a positive impact on site personnel.Administer computer programs required to support EH&S Department. (CMS, Tracer, Compliance Suite, HM DOT, etc).Other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation / Experience / Background:
BS in Industrial Health & Safety, Environmental Health Science, Chemistry or a related discipline.Five to eight years in the hazardous waste industry or related work experience preferredKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:
Excellent hazard recognition and abatement capability.“Hands-On” experience and technical knowledge of “plant-critical” industrial health and safety standards including, but not limited to, Process Safety Management, Confined Space Entry, Personal Protective Equipment, Fire Safety, Emergency Response, Control of Hazardous Energy, Medical Surveillance, Root cause analysis, and workplace chemical exposure assessments and exposure control methodologies.Excellent written and verbal skills.Preferred proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, Excel & PowerPoint.Knowledge of Intelex Application preferred or ability to learn quickly.Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines.Strong team playerAbility to wear a respirator.Must be clean shaven at all times.Required Certification / Licenses / Training:
