As Health and Safety Manager / SuM H&S Lead you will be responsible for execution of the H&S function as it relates to: · Before Start-up: ensuring the health and safety of all project personnel, implementing safety policies, and promoting a culture of safety within the project · After Start-up: ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance on the site. You seek to maximize the uptime of the production tool and manage the department's budget and team. You will report to Plant Manager / SuM Manager and work in close collaboration with SuM Team, Regional and Global Support Team and Engineering Team. Technical Expertise:
Provide expert guidance and technical support to project teams regarding design, specifications, equipment selection, and installation requirementsEnsure execution of Readiness Checklist containing a very detailed list of activities leading to the creation of a similar system as in other McCain plants. All activities described below in section “After Start-up” are included in the checklist to be designedPrepare and implement safety policies and proceduresCollaboration:
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including project management, operations, procurement, and external vendors · Participate in Basic and Detailed Design reviews as well as URS, P&ID, FDS, 3D model reviews with project and contractors teams to ensure optimal design from point of view of Health & Safety & Ergonomics, communication, material and waste flow, required tasks and other activitiesCoordinate external safety agencies, advisors, etc.Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and challenges and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success and operational efficiencyHealth, Safety Quality, Environment:
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, codes, and best practicesConduct inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and Safety requirements at any stage: basic and detailed engineering, FAT&Simulations, CQV and processing French FriesEnsure alignment with Global and Regional Safety strategyCoordinate Independent Safety Culture introductionBe active in accident prevention and risk managementContinuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to build “Plant of the Future”Training and Development:
Provide training and mentorship to enhance technical capabilities and ensure alignment with company standards and best practicesBuild Safety organization (including optimization of staffing model and MDIxAI) and manage the organization according to McCain Safety Standard Model

Coordination of Health & Safety activities:
Support the various plant departments in managing Health & Safety of their teamsDesign, implement and monitor McCain Global & Regional Safety programs in the plantEnsure compliance of the plant with Health & Safety regulations and fill mandatory official reportsUpdate/monitor the property loss prevention audit / Business readiness continuity planUpdate the Internal Response PlanImplement and monitor the Safety system action planParticipate in the design, implementation and compliance monitoring of equipment, installations and safety rulesDefine actions to improve Health & Safety in the workplace and reduce riskIdentify and update the list of accidental situations on the siteEnsure Safety Risk assessment in all areasCommunication, reporting and tracking of Health & Safety performance:
Record and track accidents occurring in the plant, sharing them with the region and other plants for consolidation and monitoring · Monitor Plant Health & Safety KPIsParticipate in Employee representative instances related to Health & Safety, prepare regulatory assessments and present action plans · Assist the plant manager at meetings with authorities on Health & Safety issuesBe the key point of contact for Health & Safety audits (e.g., KES, ISO certifications) and follow up action plan post auditsTraining & knowledge sharing:
Train staff on specific Health & Safety topics (e.g., unconscious behavior)Participate in the development of new projects to make sure Health & Safety issues are consideredKey shared accountabilities:
In coordination with the Health & Safety Director CE, define regional Health & Safety strategy and implementation roadmap for the plant Plant manager is accountable for protecting Health & Safety of employees in front of authorities and leadership, with execution delegated to plant Health & Safety manager In coordination with Engineering and plant Project Engineers, ensure the "design-for-safety" aspect and compliance of new plant investments In collaboration with Maintenance Manager, ensure KER is deployed and action plans followed In collaboration with Food Safety and Quality Manager, ensure food defense program is in place
Requirements:
The minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree in H&S or other related functions (engineering, quality, training coordinator, analyst, etc.)The position requires as a minimum 4-5 years of H&S experience as well as some experience operating at regional or corporate level.Fluency in German and English; additional languages such as French, or Dutch is a plus.Experience in establishing a manufacturing facility and safety managementSound knowledge of relevant safety standards, such as ISO 45001, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, and specific safety requirements of the food industry
