Where You Will Work   

In operation since 2007, Safford operations is a zero-discharge facility and one of the most sustainable mines in the United States. The operation’s commitment to utilizing advanced technologies and sustainable practices strongly emphasizes safety and environmental stewardship. Located in southeastern Arizona, close to more than 4 million acres of national forest, employees and their families can connect with the great outdoors while fishing, rafting, hiking and more. Several educational institutions also are nearby, including a Northern Arizona University satellite campus, Eastern Arizona College, and the Gila Institute for Technology.   

Description

Engage primarily with the frontline workforce to raise awareness of health and safety policies, risks and controls. Facilitate processes in the Health & Safety Management System, including incident investigations and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with government laws and regulations, and company policies.

Directs employee engagement activities such as risk assessments and raisinggeneral safety awareness to employees, managers, and other stakeholders.Conducts safety audits and inspects facilities within area of responsibility to ensure asafe working environment and compliance with regulatory laws.Manages functions or projects and may have supervisory responsibilities.Trains staff from multiple divisions in safety procedures, including specialized safetytraining (e.g., confined space, LOTOTO) and Annual Refresher Training as required.Inspects and evaluates work in progress, identifies any problem areas, and maydirect remedial action.Participates on cross-function teams to manage low-level incident investigation androot cause analysis.Accompanies MSHA/OSHA/State Mine Inspectors and document regulated fieldactivities.Conducts health and safety orientations, visit work sites and distribute literature toimplement and promote safety and/or environmental policies and procedures.May administer workers’ compensation program for the company, includinginteracting with workers’ compensation insurers, monitoring claims, developing andadministering loss prevention and rehabilitation management/monitoring programs,maintain files, and provide necessary support in defense of claims.Perform other duties as required.Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of Health & Safety or related experience, ORAssociate degree and two (2) years of Health & Safety or related experience, ORBachelor degree in a related field

What We Offer You  

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $62,000-$85,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.    What We Require    

Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.   Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.   Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.   Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.
