The Health and Safety Specialist position will develop and drive the overall safety culture at a brand new 300,000 sq foot facility slated to open in Spring of 2025.
This position drives plant safety to ensure safe and accident-free work environment. Implements safety concepts to provide an accident-free workplace. Plans and/or delivers programs to train managers, supervisors and employees in safe work practices and procedures. Strong focus on warehouse operations, root cause analysis and injury prevention.
How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
Supports OSHA compliance, state, and local regulatory compliance by serving as the site expert and providing management updates on current and future laws and regulations.
Drives a safety minded culture by leading site occupational health and safety program supporting all safety training, including Job Safety Analysis.
Manages health and safety programs including Emergency Response, forklift certification, ergonomics, safety audits, crisis management and accident investigations.
Conduct and/or facilitate safety programs and OSHA required training and certifications, ie., forklift, confined space, lockout/tagout, and CPR/First Aid training; conduct fire drills.
Oversees and actively manages safety reporting system and Incident Investigation Report to ensure completeness and that appropriate action is taken to prevent recurrence.
Reviews, evaluates, and analyzes work environment, including near miss incidents, with emphasis on preventative actions.
Oversees PPE needs for the facility, ensuring proper on-hand inventory, training and application.
Conduct, maintain, and execute Management of Change procedures on current projects and future pipeline initiatives.
Supports Divisional Human Organizational Performance (HOP) philosophy by aiding in learning teams and HOP philosophy coaching.
You Are Best Suited For The Role If You Have The Following Experiences, Skills, and Qualifications
Two (2) or more years’ experience in a distribution center setting, with major concentration of job duties relating to health and safety.
Associate’s degree in occupational health & Safety Management, Industrial Hygiene or in a related field, and/or the equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and Workers’ Compensation claim mitigation and management.
Hands on experience in successfully leading, coaching, motivating, and developing a team environment within safety; strong communication skills, customer service skills and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to create training content and facilitate training.
OSHA 30-Hour certification, or ability to obtain within 12-months of hire.
American Red Cross CPR/First Aid certified; AMR Instructor certification preferred.
PSM experience preferred.
Available to work on all shifts (when needed) to resolve issues and/or evaluate employee environment.
Proven leadership (Team Leading) abilities to be able to influence positive behavior and drive programs and initiatives.
Self-driven initiative to identify areas of opportunity to mitigate risks.
Position requires up to 10% travel, ground and/or air transportation. Onboarding process will require significantly more travel to sites with less travel after site start up.

salary range: $70,050 - $91,950
salary offers vary commensurate with experience, skills, education, and training.
