Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Specialist to promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement in our facility. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about the layout of the facility and capable of completing tasks independently while coaching non-English speaking vendors and technical advisors on regulatory requirements.
ResponsibilitiesPromote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.Know the layout of the facility and complete duties independently.Coach non-English speaking vendors and technical advisors on regulatory requirements while commissioning equipment.Master OHS processes and confidently use OHS equipment such as gas monitors and sound meters.Conduct OHS audits and inspections for eyewash stations, emergency showers, and fire extinguishers without supervision.Conduct OHS trainings, orientations, and on-boarding as needed.Respond to incidents, implement containment actions, and gather information for incident investigations.Investigate OHS incidents independently, identify corrective/preventative actions, classify them, and file them properly.Produce high-quality OHS Incident Reports and other reports consistently.Monitor processes for regulatory compliance and have a base knowledge of regulatory standards and good industry practices.Create OHS programs or training materials, identify training needs, and assist in creating a thorough training/employee evaluation process.Partner with production supervisors, managers, and frontline employees to support strategy implementation.Apply thorough OHS Technician knowledge and skills to specific areas and tasks.Spot, report, and prevent incidents on site; communicate clearly and interactively with employees, and coach them.Write daily, monthly, and annual OHS incident reports.Walk various processes and environments, build relationships with employees, supervisors, and managers, and become familiar with various machines, equipment, and production processes.Utilize various Behavior Based Programs to promote proactive solutions.Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 6S practices.Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.Proactively identify and act on opportunities for continuous improvement.Essential Skills2+ years of experience in a related field.Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).Working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking.Solid listening and communication skills.Adaptability and ability to interact and create cohesion with team members.Ability to deal with complexity and ambiguity.Professional demeanor and personable attitude.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED required.Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Biology, Chemistry, or a related science or technical field from an accredited college or university preferred.OSHA 10 hr. or 30 hr. certification preferred.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
