AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. AMDA offers various pathways for students to receive unparalleled performing arts education taught by world-class industry professionals, including Professional Conservatory Certificates as well as undergraduate and graduate degrees (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Occupational Studies, Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts). AMDA is seeking passionate, student-centered, and highly qualified part-time adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate Health and Wellness courses. These courses are delivered online through various synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities for the Los Angeles Campus, using a combination of instructional technologies that include Canvas and Zoom. Teaching assignment(s) may include courses within the discipline of Health and Wellness. Faculty members at AMDA are responsible for providing highly effective instruction through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear documentation of student progress, and support of academic success for all students. Primary Responsibilities:Providing instruction in accordance with established curricula, course outlines, and class schedulesCreating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinkingProviding a learning vehicle for diversity and inclusion contentEvaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and assessing student workMaintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethicsMaintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areasFulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time adjunct faculty memberMaintaining accurate academic recordsPerforming other related duties as assigned Required Educational Credentials:Terminal Degree  in Health Science, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Studies or a related fieldMaster's degree in Health Science, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Studies or a related field or a related field.Preferred: Professional Certifications in Health and Wellness:American Council of Exercise (ACE)National Academy Sport Medicine, NASM,American College of Sports Medicine, ACSM in fitness training, health coaching, or related fields. Experience in teaching Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified Wellness Practitioner Required Professional Expertise:A minimum of three years of teaching in the field of Health and Wellness in a post-secondary settingExperience with innovative teaching methodologies that focus on creating an engaging, student-centered learning environmentCurrency and depth of knowledge in the applicable professional fieldKnowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and practices that enhance student success at higher education institutions, including effective use of technologyExcellent oral/written communication skills and interpersonal skillsCommitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learningSuccessful candidates will be able to apply their discipline expertise in a manner/context that is relevant to emerging performing artists, in an online environmentActive scholarship in related field  Position Information:The schedule for this role is based on department needs.The pay range for this position is $45 - $60 per hour for classroom teaching.
