As Georgiaā€™s public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services. The main office for DBHDD is located in downtown Atlanta. Job Description Job Title: Health Care Worker [Part-Time - 3rd Shift] - Community Integration Home - Augusta, GA Area Pay Grade: YMW NOTE: This is a part-time position. The incumbent will not work more than 29 hours per week. Schedule: 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. The selected candidate must perform the following duties: + Under direct supervision, learns to provide basic patient care and works with patients/clients to develop daily living skills. + May take vital signs. + Answers clients' call signals. + Assists in administration of medications and treatments, takes vital signs, and/or draws blood or collects other bodily fluids, as directed by a physician or nurse. + Bathes, grooms, shaves and dresses clients. + Conducts activities for recreation and socialization. + Ensures safety and security of clients. + Feeds clients who are unable to feed themselves. + Observes and documents patient data, behavior and activity. + Prepares clients for treatment or examination. Provides client care by supplying and emptying bedpans, applying dressings and supervising exercise routines. + Provides clients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed. + Provides subprofessional occupational and/or physical therapy services to physically and/or developmentally disabled patients. + Transports and/or accompanies clients to treatment units, using a wheelchair or stretcher. + Turns and re-positions bedridden clients, alone or with assistance, to prevent bedsores. + Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas. + Other duties as assigned. Job Responsibilities: Monitors resident activities and symptoms during assigned shift. + Observes, documents and reports behavioral problems as well as progress. + Intervenes and diffuse potentially explosive situations as appropriate. + Reports disruptive or inappropriate behavior to supervisor in a timely manner. Trains residents in daily living skills and conducts psychoeducational classes either one-on-one or group instruction as assigned. + Provides instruction to residents in appropriate social interactions with other residents, visitors, and neighbors in accordance with established guidelines. + Assists and monitors with meal preparation, table setting & table manners. + Encourages and prompts residents to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. + Teaches and monitors proper personal hygiene of residents. + Effectively teaches psychoeducational classes to residents based on specific IRP goals and completes appropriate reports on time. + Recognize areas in which residents need improvement and take the opportunity to teach them the necessary skills. Maintains accurate records. a. Documents residentsā€™ activities, behaviors and symptoms in residentsā€™ Integrated Progress Notes and End-of-Shift Report. b. Accurately documents residentsā€™ self-administration of all medications on Medication Administration Record (MAR). c. Accurately records time worked on employee time sheets and timestamp in Kronos. d. Maintains vehicle logbook for all state vehicle transportation. Maintains a consistent high-quality level of care, serving as a role model for residents. + Treats all residents with respect, courtesy, and tact. + Communicates with residents appropriately, offering explanations to requests that cannot be filled in a respectful manner. + Maintains a working relationship with all residents without crossing professional boundaries. + Monitors residentsā€™ level of personal hygiene and prompts as necessary. Daily monitoring of residentā€™s self-administration of medications + Accurately follows CIH self-administration procedures. + Documents self-administration on residentsā€™ MAR correctly. + Secures medications while not in use. + Monitors medications and notifies supervisor when supply is less than 3-days. + Completes medication inventories, picks up medications from the pharmacy ensuring prescriptions are accurate and documents pickups in medication logs. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) Has been trained and adheres to established policies on privacy and security requirements for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA"), as applicable by Agency policy. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED AND any combination of training and experience, which would have enabled the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
