Responsible for providing health and safety services to campers, staff and volunteers.
AmeriCorps Summary:
AmeriCorps members agree to complete a term of National Service as they support Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee programming and receive a set living allowance. Upon successful Completion of this term of service, AmeriCorps members are eligible for a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award.

Responsibilities:
Provide health care and first aid services to meet the needs of camp staff, volunteers and campers.Responsible for daily medication management including logging medication in and out weekly and documenting each dosage given in the medication log. Supervise and care for people admitted to the health Center for care.Serve as the First Responder during a medical emergency.Provide direct health care within the scope of their skills, the camp’s health care manual, and treatment procedures (refer to Dr.).Monitor and maintain health and safety procedures.Train staff and adult volunteers in health and safety standards and expectations. Monitor that these standards are being met throughout the summer and provide in-service training as needed. Document every first aid or health care administered to campers and staff in the bound health care log. Work with other staff to minimize/eliminate health and safety risks.Must participate in required trainings by the Club, County, State, and/or funder.Requirements:
High School diploma. Some college preferred.Must provide proof of citizenship, as required by AmeriCorps.Must pass background check requirements, including a finger print screeningAble to obtain or current CPR/First Aid certification.Experience in first aid and emergency management services.Skills:
Ability to read and follow directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders and parent letters.Ability to use the telephone and communicate effectively with parents, guardians, Club Managers, nurses and doctor.Ability to maintain written records.Ability to quickly get to remote locations on camp property over uneven terrain.Ability to observe and assess situations and safety conditions of the camp.Exhibit endurance to meet emergency needs.Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the member is regularly required to sit and use hands to touch, handle, or feel. The member is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. The member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
