Summary of Job Duties:The Stroke Program Health Educator supports the Institute for Digital Health and Innovation Stroke Program under the supervision of the Community Outreach Program Manager. This role focuses 80% on community outreach, partnering with hospitals and community groups to deliver targeted educational initiatives. A key responsibility is coordinating the Mega Brain educational initiative, which involves statewide travel (25%) and frequent evening and weekend work. The educator must have specialized knowledge and skills in health education for both lay audiences and healthcare professionals. Additional duties include developing, implementing, assessing, and evaluating Stroke Program outreach efforts.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, public health or related field plus three (3) years of experience in health education, administration or program assessment/development required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access)
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with current liability automobile insurance to be used for work-related travel.
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.

Responsibilities:
Assesses and designs training and/or educational program to address identified deficiencies/learning needs of the Stroke Program within Arkansas’ critical care access hospital arena.
Understands and assures the use of appropriate Stroke Program education initiatives and imparts this knowledge to critical care hospital faculty/staff across Arkansas as appropriate.
Understands and assures the use of lay community learning principals as well as culturally appropriate initiatives.
Identify barriers or concerns, which interfere with the learning process and suggests alternatives for resolution.
Consults directly with Stroke Program, Program Manager for Community Outreach.
Establish and lead process improvement initiatives statewide.
Takes proactive approach towards lay organizations, hospitals and collaborating agencies.
Uses appropriate communication, both verbal and written.
Maintains privacy/confidentiality.
Responds to medical personnel, organizations, agencies and schools.
Works well within team environment and individually.
Performs other duties as assigned.
