Health Educator
Health Educators are responsible for providing culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate prevention, intervention, and health promotion programs in an inclusive, collaborative, and integrated Center for Health and Wellness. They are responsible for one of the following content portfolios: general health promotion, alcohol and other substance education, violence prevention and advocacy, or mental health promotion. This is a full time, benefits eligible, salaried position with a hiring range of $54,828 - $68,550 per year. Core Responsibilities: + Facilitates health promotion and prevention trainings, workshops, and group series for undergraduate, graduate and adult learner students + Recommends, implements, and assesses environmental prevention strategies to reduce community risk and bolster strengths + Coordinates and curates programming calendars for awareness days, weeks, and months with campus partners + Creates, tests, and edits health communications for print, web-based, and social media audiences + Enhances faculty and staff capacity as partners in promoting health and wellness through consultation, training, and material development + Hires, trains, and supervises student workers and/or peer educators + Completes timely documentation in the EHR according to best practices and office policies + Participates in collaborative cross-portfolio health education work, Staff Advocate on-call rotation for the peer rape crisis hotline, committee work, and crisis responses as assigned Requirements + Master’s degree in public health, health promotion, community health, social work, education, higher education administration or counseling, psychology, nursing, or related field + Experience implementing health promotion and behavior change theories in health education program planning, interventions execution, and assessment at the individual, group, and community levels + Commitment to addressing intersections of multiple identities and their related health outcomes + Commitment to collaboration with cross-discipline colleagues to support positive health outcomes + Knowledge of the social, psychological, and physical developmental stages of college students Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Regularly operates a computer and other office productivity tools. Regularly moves about inside the office and across Middlebury’s undergraduate campus. May require limited and infrequent in-state and out-of-state trips for training, professional meetings, and professional development. Schedule flexibility is routinely required including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to attend events and facilitate programming according to the academic calendar.
